I actually saw a 5-7-10 tonight. Rolled by a backup lady with a 10 pound ball. Lots of deflection. Weird thing, she picked up the 5-7, hitting both with the ball. 5 wrapped around the 10.

Don't they call that the Lily or something? I never seen that leave until I started bowling at my local lanes. I can see with a light ball but ive seen light hits with good eqipment leave that mess. I havent seen anyone convert it yet.

As for weird bowling, tonight I left the baby split and put my XXXL right between them without so much as a flinch from either pin. I had to laugh it off.

Mike -
Some People call it lily and over here they call it a Sour Apple. Last summer i left that three times with my Resurgence, all in pocket, just ball lost all it energy and was dead on arrival.

Brandon, you gotta stop using a 10 pound ball. I don't care if it's a Resurgence or not.

Well, I waited til I calmed down before posting. I subbed on the Fri night league, and embarrassed myself. Here are some of my memorable moments:
4 - pocket 7-10's
2 - 2-10's
2 - 4-6 or 4-6-7, and
2 Greek Churches, 4-6-7-9-10

I tried to roll from an inside line, standing 30, over 15 to 8. I moved and moved, but tried to stay inside. Every ball just dove on the lanes. I couldn't keep anything on the pocket side. And, didn't have a double all night.
140-140-160. I wouldn't blame the team for not asking me back.

Splits are game killers and if it happens through out the course of a night at the end you ask yourself how the H does that happen? They seem to come out of nowhere too. Its not like you bowl bad for a few weeks and then you roll 400+. I dont know you personally but I read enough to know you are a good bowler. If the people you subbed for even half know you they know it too and would have you back. (If not I wouldnt lose sleep over it) I dont expect you to be happy but its over and the only thing it has to do with the next time you sub is it'll knock your average down some pins so you can pound them next time. There isn't a ~200 average bowler I know that hasn't thrown a 400+ series some time in their life. I believe this is the reason bars were installed in bowling alleys just for nights like this.

well, after our holiday break, we started our second half thursday night, had a good outing!

between game one and two, i had 17 consecutive frames without an open [my own personal world record, lol]

shot a 212 [clean], 183 and a 163. game two kinda got me a bit, was clean thru 7, then had 2 splits in a row [which i guess i had coming, cause i got away with murder the first game....], BUT, even on the splits, i was able to get 'close', good target, hit the pin where i wanted to, got it going in the right direction, just couldn't convert it.

overall, it was a good night for me.

Thanks for the encouragement, Mike. I really had no choice but to play an inside line on some pretty dry lanes. And, an inside line is just NOT me. I tried to concentrate on a breakpoint, but seemed to have a 5 board width that the ball would go through.
I tried to kill the ball, I changed balls, I tried to spread my pinky, I moved farther left to use the center oil, all to no avail.

I could make spares, if I had any to shoot. So when your strike game is gone, you better make your spares. Hah. As you can see, I only had 4 high shots. The entry angle was so severe that I would leave some really strange leaves.

Food for thought, Ive run into conditions like that and its why I bought the XXXL (plastic w/a core). Its hard to recognize a night like that coming on but plastic up 5-7 might work if it tails to the pocket. That's a last ditch effort, what I do is cheat up on the approach with a weaker wrist position and use loft. Even then it's not my strong suit either. I feel your pain.
