Well second night of Winter League and I am setting the bar pretty high for myself but I am glad and hopefully it will just push me to continue to be focused and zeroed in as I have been recently. I shot a 587 (155, 222, 210). We won all 4 games. The first game I was not sharp at all and missed a couple of easy spares and had a couple of splits that I didn’t make. The second game I was still struggling and opened 2 of the first 4 and was sitting at 54 in the 4th when I strung 6 and never looked back. So after 2 weeks I am sitting just a few ticks shy of a 190 average which is almost 30 over my normal average. In 2 weeks this average will take affect so like I said I am just going to have to stay focused and continue keep this pace.

Third night of league. After first game I thought my lofty averagy of 231 was going to come down hard. I shot 211. After game two 209, I was sure. I was running out of room with my feet to boot. The something both coach Jim and Erin said hit me. I took a little hand out of the ball. that is I did not lift as much. Sort of killed it. Shot 268 last game for 688 series. Average did drop but only 1 pin to 230. Thank you coaches! As a team we sucked again. 5 out of 35 points not good. The other team had 3 bowlers 90+ pins over for the night. Cannot beat that.

I know that feeling all too well Eraser. At one point last season I made the comment I was giving up bowling for an easier sport like cricket. It was a frustrating time, and this season, at least the first night hasn't been much better, but after literally not touching a bowling ball in almost 3 months it was understandable for me.
I am however trying to get rid of all of my equipment, well the 14 lbs.

The bad thing cal, is that I bowled all summer. I established some bad habits bowling on a PBAX league, and they are tough to break. By bowling on the PBAX league I thought it would make me a better bowler. Looks like it has done the opposite.

Tonight went pretty good for me, although at first I was a bit worried about the type of night I was going to have. Started the night with a big 4 followed by a 2-8-10, but I got myself back on Track after that. 223, 215, 267 for a 705 series. Much like Ron, my average is a bit higher than it should be, tonight brought it from a 229 up to a 231. Of course, after the 2nd game I figured that I'd also be bringing it back down to a more reasonable level, but I was able to string strikes, something I couldn't do in the second game.

Show, I been there when you sturggle for a week and then you finally figure it out and then when you get to league ready for it they changed the shot completely.

OK, I am convinced. My problem is NOT me. It is the lanes. I bowled tonight, and believe me, it is frustrating to see a good shot be tossed away. It's the oil the House switched to. Found out they switched to a Brunswick, Heavy Viscosity so it would last longer. Well, It may stay on the lane, but it spreads all over. You cannot roll 3 consecutive shots in a row. I talked the other top bowlers from last year. High was 540 among all and no one had more than a turkey all night.
I talked with the league Pres and She is also the League Pres for the Tues nite Women's league. The entire Tues league has voiced a complaint to the House. The House response was that the Men's league wanted a tougher shot. What BS!!!
There were 2 men's leagues. I am the VP on Wed night, and the Mon nite league folded into ours. And, I know, there was NO such request. This is the doing of one person, the Asst Mag, who now bowls in our league. He is a high rev, 220 average, local pro, and he put this shot out all by himself.
Even the Fri league has dropped more than 20 pins in average for the entire league. But, this is a social league and most are 110 to 160. Most don't have the ability to recognize the difference or read the lanes.
Those who can read the lanes are really having trouble because of its inconsistency. Where the top bowler last year was 210 and the top 6 were all over 200, now the top average is only 181.
I just have to remember to NOT change what I do to match the lanes. That will undoubtedly cause more trouble.

i remember something about that in another thread, and wondering at the same time "why is this assistant manager such a moron?" i can only wonder why this guy thinks he is all high and mighty. is he the assistant manager of the house, or the league?

Tim, that is the one thing with tougher conditions, when you can't score you start to do anything you can to get better scores and it really starts to throw you off. That sounds like the issue Dennis is having. The oil is causing a tougher condition. In the house I bowled in on Tuesday's last season is was similar but it was more of a lack of oil, and short. Many of the bowlers averages suffered, and many bad habits appeared. I think that is what brought my game down, trying to score at that house.
