I read that Lane Masters balls are not allowed in the PBA tournament finals. They are OK for qualifiers, and regionals etc., but not in finals. Is this true? And if so, why?..seems rather puzzling to me.

Lane Masters won't pay juice money to be on TV. MoRich was in the same boat until WRW did a joint venture with Mo.

Some other ball Cos. won't pay either.

It is pricey to pay the sponsorship fee for the PBA. You want to wear a patch for a Pro Shop? Pay the PBA. You want to throw a certain kind of ball? Pay the PBA. You want to wear a certain kind of shoes? Pay the PBA. Get the idea?

To answer the second part of your question: Anything goes for qualifiers. But, when you get to TV, you must pay the Piper.

Lane Masters/Lgends bowling equipment will not be legal for pba events effective Oct 1, 2008. They are legal until then. On the plus side, they are still USBC approved, and fine for leagues, and non-pba tournaments.

Scores are all relative to the scoring pace of the lane condition. This means if everyone and thier brother is striking, you better strike, if no one is stringing strikes, keep the ball in play and make your spares.

The PBA members notice of 9/3....

9/3/2008

This is an update to let our members know that Linds
footwear and Lane Masters/Legends bowling balls are both
illegal in all PBA competition starting Oct 1, 2008.
Surprising about Linds. That they couldn't handle the sponsor fee is remarkable.

I have to show this to my wife. This is the perfect reason to get all new equipment.
