Could anyone explain this to me. Check out this link to our summer league stats. I have the high Scratch series at 737. But the high scratch game goes to someone else witha 254. But through the league I have bowled a 263,257,and a 257. Why won't I have the high scratch game?

It's a common practice for leagues to adopt a rule where one bowler can only have either high game or series with series taking precedence. So since you have high series, another bowler will be awarded high game. It spreads out the prizes a little bit and keeps one bowler from dominating the awards.

Hey Keith..
Nice shooting.
Most leagues have a 1 award per person rule. Check with your league secretary for the specifics. So if you qualify in more than 1 category, the awards come in the following sequence.
Hi avg is 1st,
Hi series is 2nd,
Hi game is 3rd.

In the winter leagues, a USBC award goes to the person who shots the hi game first. If multiple people shot the same score, the 1st to do it gets the award.
In my winter league we had 18 people who bowled at least 1 300 game. some had more than 1. We no longer give a hi game award.

Thanks, I didn't want to seem Greedy going to the league secretary and complaining. I thought that maybe it was that since I had high series, they gave someone else high game. That's ok for now, because this was my first league in around 10years. But the more I bowl, my competitiveness will get strong. And if I earn it, I should get it. I guess as I go I should seek out more competitive leagues.

Well, good luck finding one, because I've not yet bowled in a league (even scratch leagues) where one person was given high series and high game, much less high handicap series and high handicap game (in handicap leagues).

All the leagues I've been in have evened out the individual awards with the understanding that high series has some more prestige then high game and those higher then the handicap awards etc....but they have all gotten the same monetary distribution at the end. Most of the leagues have not given anything except a manilla card for high average and it didn't preclude you from other individual awards.

Its a tier system that helps reward more people for their league achievements.
