Hello all. Sorry if this has been asked before but the system wouldn't let me do a search... keeps telling me I don't have permission to search.
What method has a higher percentage for picking up the right-handed washout (1,2,10 or the 1,2,4,10)? Going with a strike-type ball but going brooklyn with it or going straight at the 1,2 pocket from the left side of the lane? Or shall I ask what is the preferred method?
I'm asking this so I can begin practicing the better method as I've been encountering this leave more and more lately.
Thanks in advance!
-Craig

I don't think that either method is better than the other one in terms of converting the washout. Basically, I am saying this because I've seen people wrap the head pin around the 10 by hooking and hitting brooklyn and by going straight to the 1-2 pocket from the left. The only reason straight from the left might be better would be if lane conditions were bad enough that you weren't sure you could hit brooklyn.
With that said, you should really be asking about why my ball is not getting to the pocket and what I can do to stop leaving washouts. A washout is not a leave that you should be practicing to convert because it was left due to a poor shot and should not be left with that frequency. If it is left that frequently that you feel the need to practice it, there is a first ball problem that needs to be addressed.

Of course, the best thing is Don't leave it. But, I go from the left side with a straight ball

I prefer shooting straight at the 1-2 pocket. I have better luck picking it up that way.

I always go for the 1 2 pocket only because I didn't hit the head pin with the first shot what make you think I could hit brooklyn with the second.

I go straight up the center with, well actually a little right throwing straight, but I'm mainly going for the count and getting the 10 pin is secondary. I've seen some pick it up often hooking it coming from the outside and crossing over.

I always go straight at the washout. I have no adjustment to make with the lane oil. I always stand at the same spot and aim at the same target no matter how much oil is on the lane. It simplifies the whole process for me. I believe in less is more.

I stand on 32 and throw straight down 22 to attempt to convert the washout. I always get the middle pins and often the corner. I do not think about not leaving it again until after the spare attempt, but that has to be addressed. I toss enough poorly delivered balls that I don't always make an adjustment for leaving a washout. I left an 8-t today and made no adjustment for what I know was a poorly thrown ball.
============= This may be for a new thread, but how does everyone "throw straight?" I stand 10 boards left of my object board and think about throwing a back-up ball. I do not think I can actually throw a back up, but thinking about it produces a straight roll for me.
I throw straight and down the boards at most middle spares and use the 4th arrow cross lane for the 4, 6, 7, & T pins.

I spread my pinkie, tuck the index finger tight, break the wrist some and come right up the back of the ball. At least I believe I come right up the back of the ball since the ball doesn't flare much if at all and doesn't hook when I do it right. I've done this with every reactive I had and my plastic ball. I could nail the 10 pin with all of them going completely straight even at a drier house.
