They're definately is balls that are just as good as the Cell. However, the design of the core had never been done before, and it made for a really great ball motion, that was easy to be drilled by drillers, and it could work for just about anyone. I have one (two, but drilled the same) and it works really well for me. Unless I see something great from the Pearl, aside from the way it looks I probably won't care to get one. I have enough bowling balls as it is...

The Cell was a tester for Storm putting out the Dimension. When they realized the sucess of the Cell, they put out their own version. Also, it allowed their staffers to throw it. I have a feeling that the Pearl will have as good if not greater sucess as the original because Roto is now seen as a company that puts out a quality ball. Not that they didn't before but they had nothing like the Cell before. In 6 weeks it was their best selling ball ever.

I think the Pearl could be an even bigger success because it will match up better to typical house shots than the original. Pretty safe to assume that the Cell is too much ball for most league conditions. That hasn't stopped them from getting all the use that they do, but I think that's why you hear some complaints about the Cell having a short life span. Use it on less oil than it was intended for and possibly also not care for it properly, and the ball will go flat prematurely. Being more versatile and less oil absorbent, the Pearl will be a smash hit. Even then, it probably won't bump my Break Pearl from my bag. thumbsup

I like to be different and stay away from the more popular stuff. I like to be able to pick my stuff out without having to closely inspect it. Besides I can find other equipment that does just as good so why get the popular ball?

Its not just with bowling balls. At work I try to get tools that are different from every one else. That way there are no mix ups or trying to figure out what belongs to who.

Hmm Tempting indeed. There two international Cells out both are Pearls. Strike Cell and Hybrid Cell, they finally come out with US Pearl Version.

Looks pretty sweet. The original Cell was a little bit too much ball for our house I think.

The original Cell was a little too much ball for most houses. Better used on soup.

Yeah we had quite a few people using it in our league when it came out, but all put it away in summer leagues cause of our center trying to save on oil smile

The Cell works great on drier conditions. One of the houses I bowled in last season was short and light and several people would use it. They normally were low rev, medium speed bowlers, of course this really screwed the lanes up for people with more hand who was already covering 20+boards.

how is that a banned url??? it's one of the sites sponsors??? bowling ball's site

yes there is.. there are two pearl versions.. they are both overseas releases but you can get the strike Cell from the [Banned-URL] place

here is the info from a Roto-Grip technical service manager

The Cell is a solid ball.
The Strike Cell is 1 Part Pearl, 2 Parts Solid
The Hybrid Cell is 2 parts Pearl, 1 Part Solid

I think if you had all three and a spare ball your arsenal would be set...
