This is mja'a wife typing,I am fairly new at fingertip bowling and have taken some instruction and am improving. I need to know if anyone has sugestions on how to improve my release. I am sonetimes still coming up behind the ball like I am straigt bowling. I was wondering if anyone had tips that could help work on this at home and while I am at the alley.

The wife again. sorry about the typo's. I was trying to make the kids go to bed and type at the same time. I was just wondering if there were any exersizes I could do? My husband was trying to tell me I should do some underhand release with a football?? Will that work?

They say the underhand football spiral is very similar to the proper hook release for bowling.

It may help you to watch some good slo-mo videos of proper releases. It helped me a lot to watch them and see 'exactly' what has to be done with hand movement etc..

A video of your approach and release would be very helpful. I say that so that the knowledgeable people on this site can have an idea of what you are doing now in order to tell you what to do.

Aside from that, using a Nerf football can give you and idea of what the release should feel like with the hand and wrist. Then its translating that over to the heavier bowling ball.

I would say the most important thing for a proper hook release is to make sure that your thumb exits the ball prior to your fingers.

Just let your thumb pop out and let the weight of the ball create the rotation your looking for.
