Howie, just got off the phone with Apple Web Developer Service. They report there have been requests similar to yours, and they are looking into developing something. No delivery date as of yet, though. Dennis, thank you very much.

GMail is a much better experience than Outlook.
Even though I have people in my address, outlook rarely autocompletes in the To field - I usually have to open the window to find them. With gmail, i can start typing their first name, or last name, or email address, and it finds them.
Outlook takes eons to load. GMail, even its initial javascript load, is faster.
Outlook freezes on me randomly. GMail doesn't.
Outlook also uses 1/20 of my hard drive to store the same amount the gmail will store for free.
Outlook search SUCKS, is slow, and never finds what you want.
Just about the only thing I like about it is that I can look at email while I'm not online. But, my mobile has internet, and GMail works on it just fine, so that is really a moot point too.

Your comments are completely uncalled for. They are asking questions to better understand what you are talking about and you start name calling.

I answered their question, then they respond to my answer by telling me why I'm wrong. I asked one question and it has turned into this whole to do. Mind you, two pages later, I finally get some kind of answer. I'm basically getting mocked for not having the same prefrences as lefty and CG. Why should I have their point of view?

Please show me where you have been mocked. Granted, you hit a nerve with your initial comment that programming is just "cutting and pasting code, and dragging stuff around." I don't know what you do for a living, but I wouldn't presume that it is as simple copying other people's work, and I ask the same respect in return.
We (I?) are trying to have a discussion here - the subject is very near and dear to me, as I have personally invested a lot of time in the topic. Not everyone is going to agree about the best way to do this, and that is to be expected; everyone is not the same. However, I have only seen 1 person that continually claims to be persecuted, instead of attempting to simply explain their viewpoint.
Ask us questions - if you think we're wrong, say "I don't agree with this thing that you're saying, here's why, now why do you feel the way you do?" It works much better than what's been said so far.

I don't know what you do for a living, but I wouldn't presume that it is as simple copying other people's work, and I ask the same respect in return. Please go to Apples website or look for the video of the event when they introduced how programs were created for the iPhone. The person within Apple that does the presentation is Scott Forrestal. Remember, I know nothing about coding. We (I?) are trying to have a discussion here - the subject is very near and dear to me, as I have personally invested a lot of time in the topic. Not everyone is going to agree about the best way to do this, and that is to be expected; everyone is not the same. Thats great, but when I tried to give an example of why native apps would be better than web apps, I used gmail/outlook as an example. Instead of saying, I understand now, you decided to tell me why you thought I was wrong. Thats partially why its a mockery. I don't think anyone is wrong but it seems you make me out to be wrong. All I want to know if anyone is or can make a program for the iPhone. Please look at www.seeqpod.com on a computer and then look at it with an iPhone. You will understand the difference between your website and a web app for the iPhone.

Native apps are a waste of time if they can be just as useful on the web since the web does not care whether you're running Mac, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, etc. Coding on the web is standard. Coding for any of the above OSes is proprietary. Why reinvent the wheel when you can do it only one time? And if you have the ability to browse the web on your phone, why look for a native app? Besides the development aspect of a phone app, you have to consider the patching for that phone app, updates when the base code changes, etc. This is where the concept of "cloud computing" is becoming such a hot item.
And no, coding is not as simple as "cut and paste." I am no expert coder, but I've done coding in BASIC, Pascal, Fortran 77, C++, HTML/CSS, PHP and Perl and have managed to do some fair enhancements to existing programs and, for PHP and Perl apps, such as forums, I've written some mods for them as well (wrote about 6 for phpBB that were ported from YaBB and wrote a couple for YaBB from scratch). Believe me, from a programmer's perspective, the less coding you have to do, the better the quality. You don't want to have to port coding from one platform to another too many times. That's how mistakes get made, and sometimes very big ones at that depending on what needs to be ported.

Thank you for your perspective. Why then wouldn't every application be on the web? I would think that they can make some intuitive native applications for any mobile computing device including the iPhone. Whether it is a waste of time or not, there are people out there that would rather have that than a web app.

No one has mocked you. We've attempted to carry on a conversation. As GP said, your personal attacks are uncalled for. I for one will no longer read anything you write since you're incapable of carrying on a civil conversation.
