Hey everyone... I thought that I would start a post really quick on what I learned in when I went to coaching lessons. First thing. I am me. No cranking, no power bowler, just me. I am unique. Now that that is out of the way (like an AA meeting), this is what else I learned and what to do different.
Apparently, I rush to the line. Because of this, my whole approach and release is out of wack. My slide isn't in sync with my release and I end up losing leverage on my shot. This is one of the major reasons why I am inconsistent.
The other thing that I found that I was doing incorrectly, was that I was looping my backswing. Let me explain... When I swing the ball I sometimes dont go straight back and through. I come around my body, and it forces me to come back around my body again on my swing through and I pull (chicken wing?). This is causing me to not only throw my ball off target, but the ball isn't reacting the correct way (being consistent) as it would if my release was correct.
In the end, I went to a 5 step approach, shortened my approach by a couple feet (to slow myself down...and get my timing right), and learned to level my shoulders, keep them squared off to the pins, and come straight back and straight through my shot....oh yeah, not to muscle the ball either. A nice fluid swing.
