Still confused and asking questions about flare? If flare creates hook by allowing the ball to roll on a fresh surface of the ball then would a high flaring ball with big gaps between the flare rings be any benefit? Wouldn't a ball only need to flare enough to get to the next dry part of the ball which would be only a 1/4 inch or so.. ? I have a ball with a 6" plus flare. Is it possible that the ball is flaring so much that it is putting the core in a posistion that the ball won't hook much as it could.
