Right now I have the BWP and I'm looking into getting a new ball. I think I want a ball with more length than what I currently have. If you guys have some suggestions please feel free to suggest them!

What type of lane conditions do you want the ball for, do you want the ball for the same lane conditions as the one you already have, just a longer and stronger reaction, or a longer and weaker reaction, (BwVenom), or for when the heads dry out like the emerald, or cherry vibe or the Ebonite bash pearl, or for toasted lanes like the tropical Storm or the Jazz or the Hammer razor?

well when i throw my pearl it tends to hit brooklyn strikes alot more than pocket strikes but if i throw a house ball or my friends Cell it will hook more into the pocket. I don't want the Cell but im using it as an example. and what do you mean by weaker backend just sometihng with not alot of hook in the backend? i'm not exactly sure i just want a ball that would hook later than my BWP so that it would hook into the pocket instead of the brooklyn.

Have you tried moving your feet and target toward the middle of the lane more to catch more oil.

If you have money for a new ball You would be best served to get a coach to teach you how to make adjustments so you can use the ball you already have instead of spending money on a ball that will probably not work much better than what you already have.

Well I would say the Cell is a good choice, you can have it drilled to go long and make a nice jump to the pocket. I have this drilling on my current Cell. Since you don't want a Cell you could possibly go with a BWB drilled to go long as well.

The BW Pearl has one of the strongest back end moves available, so what Coach is saying is that you might want to consider a ball that won't be quite as snappy. Having said that, however, what Coach says about getting with an instructor to learn how to make adjustments is VERY good advice. I guarantee a good coach will help you find a way to pound the pocket with your BW Pearl, and from there with that greater knowledge you can make better decisions about adding balls to complement it. Best of luck!

If you don't go the coach route the Black Widow Venom might be a good choice. I had the BW Pearl (didnt care for it), the Venom goes long and angular to the pocket. I'm a bit biased though, I 2nd the coach suggestion especially for your age.

Well if you have not had your Black Widow Pearl repolished it could be hooking earlier then it used to. A touch up at the Pro Shop may help it go a bit longer.

You picked a strong ball. If its hooking across the head pin, then you need to move at least your feet, probably both your feet and target. The Cell is probably grabbing quite a bit earlier and losing energy therefore ending up more in the pocket, but not necessarily with sufficient energy for consistent striking.

Agreeing with the others, the BWP is a rather aggresive ball. If you want something that reacts similar, but doesn't have as much overall hook, I would personally suggest the street rod pearl. I have one, and it's drilled to go long. This ball is very much skid/flip, and it's made for lighter conditions. Since you said the ball is going brooklyn, and while we don't know much about your style or anything like that, a first assumption would simply be that the ball is too aggresive. The psycho from Hammer would be worth looking into as well, another ball designed to go longer. As atochabsh said though, the surface might just be losing it's polish, so perhaps just polishing it up will fix it. And as the others said, nothing is a substitute for technique and skill, which a coach can help with. Hope that helps.

Hi Erin,

I understand that your Pro Shop is in the Southern California area. I live in Palmdale & work in North Hollywood. Would you send me your shop's name & address to HansardLaws@gmail.com. CoachJim is too far away and at some point here I would like to get bowling lessons from someone that is not against forward pitch in the thumb.

if your going brook alot, then move over about 3 bds to the left throwing to the same target or move your target 2-3bds to the right standing the same spot. If you see your ball starting to work before you want it, then you need to move left with your feet. Learn to work the corners of the lane and that ball should be able to hold alot of power coming off the corners to carry nice pin action.
