No, used to be wood/rubber, now I need oil to get in the pocket. You see, over those years, my entry angle has changed. I need less side rotation and now have to come straight up.

Going straight up with less side rotation requires less hand, so thats a good thing. Saves the wear and tear on the wrist.

Sometimes I have a tendency to hit up, but that causes a late release. I have to work on my hand positions to time my release perfectly. My goal is always a perfectly timed release, good lift, and follow through. Do it right, and it hits the pocket every time.

Thats better than an early release. No one likes an early release. Sooner or later, you will never hit the pocket if the release is too early.
