Hey guys. I have a 16 pound Hammer Raw Anger that I polished to use as a ball to go long and ark in and play a straighter line. I moved to 15 pound balls and I notice that my 16 pound Hammer is just too heavy. Is there anything I can do to make it lighter? I am trying to avoid buying a whole new ball.

Any suggestions?

You can have the finger holes drilled deeper, and possibly have a hole drilled on the PAP so it will minimize changes to the reaction. That's all I can think of. Good luck!

A hole on the PAP will cause a reduction in flare. Check Mo Pinel's article on weight holes to see where to drill one to keep the differential the same (1/3 of the distance between PAP and MB in most cases).

About the only thing you can do is drill the holes a little deeper but that will effect the reaction and the way it hits. Better off saving your $$$ and getting a new ball. If it isn't that old, sell your 16. I am sure that you can find someone at the alley or on CraigsList that will buy it.

Thanks GP. It sucks that there isn't anything that I can do to make it lighter. I was thinking that even if I drilled a weight hole in the side, it wouldn't affect the weight that much right? At least not enough to at least take it down a half pound.

Like has been mentioned, it will reduce the weight a bit, maybe by an ounce or 2. Drilling of holes in a ball normally only takes out 2-3 ounces (finger and thumb). It will effect the reaction/flare of the ball more than it will the weight.

Nope. Adding anything to the ball other than approved filler for finger/thumb holes is illegal.

I would say you should sell or donate the Raw Anger and get a 15#.
Like you stated the Anger is too heavy.
I started last season with 15# and switched to 16#, and every time I throw my 15# Fury I have to constantly remember to slow down my ball speed.
Avoid the headache and inconsistency go with all 15# balls.

Well that's my .02 cents.
