In preparation for the upcoming season, I'm trying to get some finishing touches in for tracking all of the things people might Track for a league. One glaring omission is league fees/winnings, and then also side games (pots, brackets, poker-esque games, etc.). What would be your preferred way of tracking these things? I see 2 basic ways. The first would be that you Track how much you pay each night (total, could be different from week to week depending on how much you put into side games), how much you win each night (if in any side games), and how much you get back at the end of the league. The other way would be to have separate entries for league dues (e.g. $20/week) and extra money put into side games (could vary from week to week). What would you prefer?

If I was consciensious to keep Track of this weekly, I would do it. But, I know my weekly fees, times the nummber of weeks to bowl. And, I generally know what weekly side wagers I get into. So, the cash outlay is pretty well known. The year end payout tells me what I get back from league. The missing piece is what I may win weekly in side wagers. Well, that is usually gone before I get home. There is a discount gas station near the bowling alley, and I routinely fill up before I go home. I'd better win more this year.

I count cost of league as part of the sport, cost of side pots are different. If I win some, I count the profit only using the money used to enter rolled into the following week. My side pots are $17 here, I win average of 30 bucks profit per week, but lose all once a month. Still make decent change on the side to pay for a tourny here and there or simply more beer.

It varies from week to week how many pots I get into. I always get into the Mystery Pot. Sometimes I get into mixed doubles with a teammate or 2. Regular doubles is up in the air. Sometimes I don't get in, sometimes I get in with up to 4 guys. I know how much I have in my pocket when I walk in. When I walk out, I see how successful the night is with how much +- I am.

I mostly keep Track of everything seperate. I use an Excel spreadsheet layout similar to the one I do for the league in which I'm treasurer. We usually have regular card games and high game pots, among other things. The house does a "Lucky 7" game with a three dollar entry fee, and you must strike in the relative seven frames over the three games to win the sum. Last time I checked the total was up to about $2,500. I'd love to snag that.

Do you Track each side game separate (high game pot, strike pot, 300 pot, card games) or as one lump "side game" sum?

cgeorg - I do it all seperate. I guess I'm just picky about stuff like that. I picked it up for a prior teammate who actually came to bowling with seperate envelopes with certain amounts of money for every side game. He would keep Track of his earnings/losses per side game all season long.

I think that if you can add a few different "pots" that are non-specific, I think it would be good. Like:
Pot 1 Pot 2 Pot 3
Then, let the person put in a description. Like Doubles, King of the Hill, Singles, Scratch game. Stuff like that.

I like the latter as I don't always get into any of the scratch pots or any of the other side games. Very cool of you to set something up for us again either way! Thanks CG keep up the good work, much appreciated!
