I am getting a Roto Grip Neptune to use for dry lanes and 10 pin spares.. I am going to sand it to 4000 abralon or higher and highly polish it to get more length and kill any flippy backend. I am going to drill it with a 6 inch pin to pap. I was going to go with a 1 inch pin buffer as recommended by the Roto Grip tech I emailed.. to get more length out of it. This would require a 5 to 5.5" pin on the ball. I can't find a ball with a pin like this.. so I am going to go the other way.. I am going to go with a 6 inch pin to pap but put the pin left of center grip using a 1 to 1/5 inch pin. Sort of like a rico drill but without the weight hole..
I know this pin down will make the ball want to hook earlier but I'm thinking that the pin down should smooth out the reaction and without the weight hole that is normally in a rico drill it should have an even tamer reaction overall. What are your thoughts on this drilling?

Lower pin placements tend to spread the hook out over a longer distance and prevent the ball from burning out early, true the ball will start hooking sooner, but it will not be as flippy.

Weight hole in your situation is just to make the ball legal and not to add or take away ball reaction. So not having a weight hole is incidental.

I know the weight hole in the rico brings the ball back to legal but I thought it was put at 6 3/4 from the pin to increace the dynamics of the ball...Ie .. increase the flare potential..

I want long and not flippy.. I want long and smooth so I guess that will work..
I just found i can get a slate gargoyle urethane from Visionary.. I'm thinking I should get that for my combo ball..they also have red amulet blems .. plastic with a core..
