Also, re: General Pounder, visionary can't be used in *any* PBA competition, even regionals. To Dennis, I know Wes Malott was Track 2 years ago, and he made plenty of shows using that purple ball.
Full registration means it can be used anywhere, including logos and patches, etc. and I can't see the difference between that and "All Tour Competition"
Grassroots stuff can be used in TQRs, Senior Tour, and Regionals, but not the PBA Tour or TV.
Grassroots manufacturers are 900Global, Lane #1, and LaneMaster/Legends.

Mo is taking care of WRW, that's for sure. But, the fact was he couldn't use their balls on TV until the juice was paid. Mo didn't pay it, and someone did. Thought WRW was involved somehow with the "sponsor" fee satisfaction.

There was a while where WRW was using Wilson bowling balls. Yes, the bowling balls that you can buy at Target for $40. He was still making shows. I guess when you are that good, it doesn't matter what ball you use.

Your right about Visionary. I know that they can be used in league competition and regualar tourneys, but not PBA events. I misread their press release.

It's free advertising for the company... If a bowler makes it the whole way through a step ladder, that's an hour long commercial for whatever company he uses. In addition, it takes time and money for the PBA to certify that new releases adhere to guidelines (although they may just rely on the USBC to keep everything in spec, I'm not sure). I'm not saying it's not excessive, but I also can understand it not being free. It would take a more in-depth market analysis to make that call. A better model may be to charge manufacturers a flat fee for each game that one of their balls is used. Same for shoes, patches, etc.
