Nice shooting Melissa. Its been a long time since I've seen a set that high.
Now to comment on the too much/not enough beer debate. I don't drink much, but my second highest series was on a night when I had a few beers, ok more than a few. Last Saturday everyone on my team but me was drinking, it only helped one of them who almost kept up with me score wise and was well over average. Two of the other three didn't do too well being way under average and the last one was average. I was thinking of joining in, but with 5 people already draining a pitcher in one cup a piece that gets a little expensive. Besides I'm not big on draft, and didn't feel like walking up to get my own, especially since I already had a Cherry Coke in front of me.

WOW what a night on the PBAX league!!! Was my turn for the rotation on the Cheetah pattern. Played simple line up the gutter. Stand 4bd, throw to the 2bd breakpoint with normal lift and normal speed of 16.5mph. Line was very tight during practice, anything left of the 3 was high and can't miss right much either, just aimed for the gutter and watch the ball at the breakpoint. Played with the BW Venom, dulled to 4000 grit, just enough to knock the shine off. Game 1: 290, threw the front 11 then oopps gutter near the break point LOL Game 2: 279, spare in the 3rd frame from a solid 7 and the rest were flush and explosive. Line was holding really good Game 3: 256, couple solid backrow pins after flush shots but still clean line. Had to move a board to the 5, same break Game 4: 268, Couple spares in bad places, solid 9pin and solid 7 pin. Series 1093, lanes seem easy, just keep it on the 2 and have good rotation so when it comes off the oil it carries power to the pocket. Last time I played the cheetah, I shot a 796, so big improvement.

Nice rolling Jsigone. Any combination of those games is good enough for a 800 series, but the first three are the ones that count for that. That's the Cheetah for you, high scoring and always the possibility for a gutter having to get it that far out down the lane. Of course doing it on the front 11....OUCH!!!!

126-188-199 = 513
Today, I bowled in heavy oil. My strike ball convented to power lift from oval. It little hook on heavy oil. 1st game was lame because I missed couple spares, 7 opens, and 2 splits. I got few strikes. It was low game for me eh. 2nd games, I bowled a lot of strikes, but 3 opens, and 1 spare. I tired to strikeout in 10th, but too high. 3rd games, I bowled many strikes, but I missed spare to leave 1 open. 4 spares. At the 10th frame, I tired to strikeout to made 200, unfourately went too high. I made 3rd 500 series this week.

we bowler the first place team tonight. We were 1 point behind them in the standings. The fellow who was complaining about me getting the handicap on top of the lanes fixing the oil patterns started his griping before we started. I am sitting with a 170 and get 27 pins cap. And that really irked him.
We started to bowl, and right away, he started by saying things about my handicap, and how it was unfair. then he started to push by calling for our next bowler to hurry up and bowl. "We don't have all night", he would say, or, "I'd like to get home some time tonight." Then he would talk really loud while our bowlers were in their approach. He sat at the scorers table very close to them. It was just to be annoying to our first 2 bowlers, and they weren't even slow. then I noticed our 3rd bowler hurry at his urging and pull a shot. I'm anchor, and before I bowled, I went up to him, and very politely told him to SHUT HIS F'N MOUTH. I turned and rolled a strike. I thanked him for being quiet.
This is not my normal tact. But, it was appropriate, and worked. His wife approached me after my shot and told me he has been upset all week, anticipating this night. I told her I wasn't going to stand for any of his antics, and he had better stop really fast. She said, "hit him if you have to, please." "He was really being a [censored]."
My direct approach worked, and he quieted down for the entire night.
On the night, I shot 625, and our team won the first game and the third, losing the total pins by 5. So we got 4 points to their 3, and we are tied. We got clobbered the middle game when his 2 sons shot a 279 and 245, and we couldn't keep up with them. That was some nice bowling by them.
All in all, things went well. Our Captain, a fairly meek fellow, was pleased, and afterwards told me that he couldn't have bowled all night, if I hadn't shut that guy up.
I'm not normally like this, but it worked. He stormed out of the lanes right after the last ball, not waiting for his wife. She is the Secy, and has to collect all the sheets. He did come back in twice and yell for her to hurry, because he was waiting. As she left, she came up to me, shook my hand, and said good bowling. Then left. She stopped, came back to me and said, "You know, I really wanted to see you hit him." Said good night, and walked out.
I don't think she was looking forward to the ride home.

thanks guys, the gutter ball was funny, lil disappointing but funny none the less. Next week is the Chameleon pattern, so back to the inside. The pres said he's playing up the 7-8, so I'll be playing inside lines to that breakpoint. Never played that pattern so the first week will be interesting.

jsigone:
Nice shooting. Averaging 273 on a house pattern is impressive. On a PBA pattern is phenominal. Congrats.
Dennis:
I love the fact that his wife said: "hit him if you have to."

Or how about wishing Dennis would have hit him? That just shows how obnoxious and too serious some people can be. There were a few instances in my league tonight of people being too serious. Twice people hit the ball returns, one time I know due to leaving the 10 pin on a good throw. I also heard a woman complaining about two of her teammates who have started off good, setting high averages and they didn't bowl that well tonight and lost several games. As for how things went on my pair of lanes tonight. I start out with a clean 226, which shouldn't have been. In the second frame I left the 3-10 split and on the spare attempt I missed the 3 pin hit the 10 dead on and it bounce back out of the pit taking on the 3. The second game was a four open 191. Three of those opens were single pin spares. A 10 pin in the second, that I either didn't align myself right or I pulled the ball, probably both. The other three opens were in a row after a four bagger, missing the 9 pin, again didn't line up right and pulled the ball, just missing a 6 pin by about quarter of a board to the right, and the last being the 3-6-9-10 of which I left the 10. I then doubled and left a solid 10 in the tenth. The last game I rolled a two open 202, one being the 6-9-10 of which I only got the 6-10 and would have got the 7 if it was there, and the other I believe was another single pin but I can't remember what it was. I tossed a turkey in the tenth giving me a 619 on the night. The first two games I had a lot of issues getting a clean release no matter how straight my thumb was and how relaxed my hand was. I think I might have been turning a little early and with three pieces of white in the front and three pieces of black in the back it just kept hanging up. I took a piece of black out and still had issues. Even with just trying to slide the thumb into the ball it would hang up trying to pull it out. I finally took out the other two pieces of black toward the end of the second game and was getting a much cleaner release as well as adding about 5 more boards of hook. We only took 1 point, but the games were all good ones and could have went either way through the tenth, well maybe not the first game, but it still wasn't a blowout.

We curbed tirades of the physical sort in our league pretty well. If you physically act out against house equipment(returns, computers, chairs, etc.) first time's a warning, subsequent instances are $20, $40, $60 fines and so on.
