Yes the NVD is the newest ball in the NV series. I'm not sure about it though. I heard that is was a great ball from one of the guys in my pro shot league. He said that Dino and TJ were using them in a tournament that he was in, and that they both looked awesome. But like I said I don't have the specs on the ball yet and I don't exactly know when it's coming out. So it might not be what you are lookng for. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I am reading this thread with mixed thoughts.
1. Why do we want a bigger hooking ball when a lot of us cannot control it?
2. Many of us rely the ball to do what we should be doing on our own.
A bigger hooking ball has caused inconsistencies with many bowlers. When they roll it, it comes in at the wrong entry angle. And, many cannot find the right line to roll it.
On the other hand, is this really showing us our deficiencies? Why can't some of us get the desired result out of our existing balls? Do we have problems with release? Are we turning our wrist? or pulling the ball? Or Hitting on it? There are many reasons why ourown ball doesn't hook. So fix those problems because a new ball won't help.

I think I'd be happy if I bowling only one house and I can just use my old balls that I know well there. But in the last couple months I've been playing on almost every set of lanes here in San Diego (8 different houses + 2 more I havn't gone ot yet). Finding that the same ball of tricks won't work well at the other houses. Not that I can't find the pocket, but has no carry or I have to work ALOT just to get there.
But you're right, why have a strong ball if you can't control it? If the mechanics aren't near perfect then why add more headache to the problem.

Just throwing in my 2 cents but besides the ball, how it is drilled and the finish also contribute to the balls reaction. I just started really playing with different setups. Ebay has been a great place. I hooked up with a fairly local, tournament player. I save shipping costs by picking the items up locally. He dumps about 15 balls a month and the spans as pretty close to mine. I usually get balls for about 25.00 each only needing to open the thumb. What i have found is that even the same ball with different pin and cg placements react very differently. The ball I am really favoring right now is the Ebonite total NV. It has a low pin and the cg is about 3 inches to the right of my thumb. I'm not an expert or even very knowedgable about drilling but the ball is VERY forgiving when I miss my marks. I play releasing over 32 and swinging out to about 15 If I swing wide with it it usually leaves me a 2 pin spare. 1-2. If I pull it a bit it usually leaves me with a single pin spare or carries the strike. I can also play different lines with it which are also forging, however I cannot play outside with this ball. If I play straight up 4 thru 8 it crushes the pocket when dead on. but a 1 board swing left or right leaves me with lots of trouble and I'm just not that accurate. I have an older Zone pro which is a good outside shot ball. I also have a radical inferno which I need to be a little deeper inside or I get terrible splits. What I have come to the conclusion is the surface, pin placement, and CG are sometimes a bigger factor that the ball surface and core. Also it seem that certain Ball, Drlling, surface combination's favor different lines. I play in really deep oil at my home house and have found the 2 best balls so far i have used are the Total NV and the Attitude shift. The Total has the stock 4000 finish and the Attitude is a 2000. I just got an NVS which I am interested to try and need to get the thumb opened up on my Angular. I agree with Dennis as why get a ball that hooks more if you cannot control it.

jsigone, which houses have you been to in SD and which houses haven't you been to? Dennis, We're talking about big hooking balls because Justin wants info about big hooking balls and we all know a little bit about one thing or another. So that's why. HE wants the info and we have. What he decides to do with it is up to him. Justin, From what I can tell about the NVD, it is supposedly the strongest ball in overall ball motion to date (according to Ebonite). Its cover is 4000 grit sanded, and I'm going to assume that it has a similar core to all of the other balls in this line. Heavy-Med. oil and it has a big hook with a continuous backend. If I were to venture a guess I would say that it is a sanded up version of the Complete NV.

I have league and play alot at Mira Mesa, also league at San Marcos Eagle lanes. I only pay 1.75/game at mira mesa so I go there alot. San Marcos is 2.75/game but only 4 miles from home so I save on gas.
Practice at these when I have the money since I don't get league discounts so we go on Sundays Camp Pend (they changed the lanes out to Vegas Style lanes since my last visit there) Kerny Mesa Parkway Bowl Chula Vista's Premier Lane Poway Lanes and Vista entertainment center
Havn't bowling at Oceanside's Surf bowl in a long long time and same with the bowling all on the Navy Base in SD. I just got back into bowiling about 2yrs ago, last time I played league before that was in 99' then I dislocated my bowling elbow so I had to take a break. That was back when games cost a buck and I'd be there throwing 15-20 games a night 4-5days a week. Was good stress relief from my GF at that time LOL

Nice, Mira Mesa is a bit too far away from me, the same as Kearny, but if I'm out in the area and I have my gear I occasionally stop on by. I've been bowling for about a year and couple of months so I haven't really had a chance to go to the different houses. I bowl primarily at Parkway, but I do venture into the Naval Base and the lanes on the Marine Corp base every now and again. How are the Primer lanes in Chula Vista? I work out that way and I was thinking about joining a league there since it's close.

chula vista is nice when they clean it, some sundays are just terrible, sticky soda stains from the night before makes a very stick approach. Kills the knees if you try to slide. When it's BAD, I'd use house shoes and just plant the slide. THe lanes itself are nice, simular to mira mesa oily front and very snappy back which I like. I'm sure for league play everything is clean so there should be no worry. Sundays there are pretty cheap, 5 games for 7 so bucks. Bowling at different houses really opens your eyes. I always try to make my book at any house I go to, so pending lane conditions, it can be tough or really easy. Thats part of this game. I always look forward to reading the lanes and trying to pick out the best way to play the series on.
