I got my Roto-Grip Neptune today. Had it drilled for length. Tested it out today in practice and I'm very pleased. That thing works wonders on dry lanes and we'll see how it works for spares at league on Monday. I played some King of the Hill with a few guys today and I got a 186 which is about 20 above my average so I was thrilled. The transition down to 14 from 16 and 15 is huge for me and my leg joints aren't protesting at all.

I have an AMF Heist and a MoRich Solid LevRG coming in as well. I'm going to take those down to a Pro Shop in Gilbert, the guy there is more knowledgeable than the guy in the shop by my house and he seems to be more proficient when it comes to drilling.

You'll just have to adjust your timing and throw it slower to allow the ball to pick up and do all of the work. You are especially going to have to let the ball do as much of the work as possible.

If anything, you want more speed with a lighter ball to increase the amount of energy at the pins. Why move to a lighter ball that you can more easily get speed and revs on, and then try to lower those?

DemoMan, my ball speed was low to begin with so this weight decrease gives me a little more speed.

I ment that you need to be careful with your timing and swing because you might throw it too hard which can cause a lot of deflection is all. I guess I used the wrong words my bad.

Demoman's point should not be slighted. I tried to drop from 16 to 15, 2 Summers ago as a trial. My driller suggested it because so many were doing it with success. No pains, strains and just easier on the limbs. Well, the 1 pound difference was very noticeable in my swing. It was lighter, and I did pick up speed. And, the wrong way, with my arm. I used it 4-5 times, and gave the ball away. Went right back to 16 pounds.

What is easier on the limbs is to let the ball swing on itsown. No muscling, grabbing or control. Less is better.

PS: I have a new teammate, and he swears I use a 20 pound ball because my Terminator hits so hard.

I use a 14 lb. ball and I like the fact that I can bowl for a long time with little fatigue or discomfort. But you definitely have to be careful to avoid muscling the ball when you go to a lighter weight. The key to better bowling in general (in my own limited experience) is to RELAX and not try to force the outcome.

I like Bowling Dynamics in Phoenix, myself--I got a ball from them at the State Tournament last year, it worked well for me (won singles at the City Tournament with it this spring), and so I try to go back there whenever I can. I still haven't become comfortable with any of the pro shops here in town.

Anyway, I hope your switch works out for you!

Thanks for the tips y'all. No, the 16lb was definitely too heavy, even the 15lb Ragin' Inferno I have is too heavy. By the middle of the second game in series I'm normally limping back to my seat. I have a bad left leg and the right one isn't much better.

I'm hoping the AMF will be in tomorrow but the MoRich should be in by Wednesday. I'm super excited.

As far as me muscling those balls down the lane, it's not a concern, that would just tire me out, my endurance is pretty minimal to begin with.
