I would say go to your local Pro Shop and give them the details. They should better be able to tell you what kind of ball would be most fitting for you.

Well the Pro Shop here is hardly ever open... I just want to know if any of the Hammer widows would be good for a bowler just starting up again? if not some one told me the Roto-Grip illusion would be a good ball for me.

The importance of getting together with a good ball fitter can't be over-stated. I'd ask at the desk if you can make an appointment with whoever is running the shop. Get measured for your PAP and all that other good stuff or you won't be getting the best performance out of your investment. The shop guy may even watch you bowl so as to recomment a ball model and layout based on your style and the conditions you are most likely to see.

If all you'll be bowling on are House patterns, I'm sure Widow Venom or Pearl would work fine for you. The Original and Bite models will struggle if the lanes haven't been oiled recently. If you wanted to save a little cash, the new Psycho or Vibe would also be a very solid choice.

Roto-Grips are very good bowling balls. If you can find an Epic Battle you'd probably enjoy it. I find it very versatile on many patterns. You might even look into a Pluto, or a Saturn, maybe even a Venus. The Planet line balls are very controllable when used correctly. Definitely do what you can to find a good and certified Pro Shop. Even ask around with other bowlers you see, especially the high rollers!
