So, it was the Chameleon Monday night. I tried and tried to take the advice given to me, which had worked the week before as well. Needless to say I was struggling and getting more frustrated by the second. About the 8th frame of Game 2, I said "screw it!!! I am gonna do what I do" I finish strong and shoot a whopping 145 after shooting 133 the first game.

I start game 3, I am standing 34, hitting 17 at the arrows and breakpoint of 8 with the strongest ball in my bag. I am just plain aggravated and decided if I am going to bowl like [censored] I may as well go out my way.

First frame I go solid 9 pin spare. This just frustrated me even more because it was solid and flush. I stay with my line and Hammer out the next 8 in a row, some light, some high, one brooklyn but hey I am carrying at least. So now I am going into the tenth with a shot at 290 in PBAX. The league has pretty much stopped bowling to watch my finish, and oh boy, I sure didn't disappoint them.

So yeah, I hit 14 instead of 17, the ball gets out to the 1 board board and hangs, and hangs, and hangs........10 PIN!!!!! ONLY THE 10 PIN!!! brickwall brickwall brickwall oops oops mad mad

So I spared it up and carried another brooklyn strike to finish with 261. Jeez I need to learn how to bowl and more important control my emotions.

LOL. Its okay. I am not laughing at you. I can related to you on a sport shot. Its apart of the game but to be better. You should be playing straighter and smoother. Try using the guttershot and working in. Usually less volume of oil on the outside then middle or mid-right. Also, work on using a forward roll. Most PBA players use it.

Desertdog, I *really* know where you are coming from. I'm in my first PBAX league this summer and 2 Monday's ago we bowled on the Scorpion pattern for the first time and I had a similar night. It didn't help that I was still getting over an ear infection but I was just off that night in general. I started off throwing about like I normally do and it just wasn't working, shot a 164 the first game. Changed up my line and swing a bunch in the second game and went 7 - 1 in the first, then proceeded to throw 11 in a row for a 278. Everybody got excited (me too!) and was congratulating me, and then the third game happened...and I bowled a 147! Frustrating night for sure, but oh well, that's what the PBAX is for! smile

congrats on the good string of strikes on that pattern. Sounds like you either pushed to hard on that last ball or didn't left and the ball went flat. Eitehr way congrats on the mental comeback from 2 bad games.

I'm more frustrated I can't figure out how to play a lane when they way they oil it gives no back end. Two AMF houses have done this so far. I don't know if they were just expecting a lot of open bowlers or what, but I couldn't even get my Cell to react normal. So just remember you're in challenging conditions, and I can't even figure out something as tricky as a house shot that's just re-oiled or whatever it is they do to it... Have fun with it either way, I'll be able to share your pain next summer lol.

last night was like that for me at my 2nd house, AMF as well. No back end snap, heavy oil on house shot. I tried playing out the outer line (stand 35, break point around 7-8) and worked well for practice then 1/2 way into the first the ball was going dead after the breakpoint. Ended up standing 32, aim 18-19 board and hope it breaks at the 13-14 board and don't catch early for a brook. I hate playing this line because the room for error is SMALL but the only way to get carry on a flush shot.

Unless you have a *ton* of drift to right, standing on 35 and going to a breakpoint of 7-8 is not playing an outside line. There is a *lot* of room to the right of you. Try playing straighter up the boards (perhaps straight up 10, or a slight belly over 11 at the arrows out to 9), more behind the ball to get it into a roll earlier.

Good work, DD...my 268 came after similar mediocre games, but yours is probably more impressive b/c it came on a tougher shot (mine was on the house shot at the time). I hope you can take something away from that third game. smile
