I've been feeling good for the past few weeks, seems my mechanics and timing was good. Started today swinging good, had to push the ball a lil bit for the breakpoint and late in the 1st game, the lane changed leaving ringing 10's. Finished with a 239, second game I was lost as I couldn't string them together then a pair of slplits. I had 129 at the end of the eighth, ninth I moved left 2 boards and threw about 1mph slower, pocket. Noticed I was rushing my approch in the earlier frames. Stuck out for a whooping 189!! I needed to focus on my timing and swing more then ball placement, so that was the game plan for the next game

Going the last game was feeling good about my swing and timing again. Banged out a double to start. 3rd frame I chocked up on the back swing and hit the face hard leaving a 4,6,7,8,10 nasty split. Opened it. Collected myself and threw 9 flush strikes ending with a 259 and 11 strike on the board crying This calender yr I've had 7 other games with 11 strikes in there and only one 300 game, was actually my only 300 in my life on April 7th.

Series was 687....another league tomorrow night at a different house and has alot more hook.

jsigone, You'll get another shot, and the next time, I hope you get it. But, strange, you don't feel as bad, missing a strike in the third frame as you would had you got that ugly thing in the 10th. but, good rolling anyway.

Like Dennis said, you'll get more opportunities. The only advice I'd give you is not to think of breaking off in the 3rd as an 'almost 300' game. You're going to torture yourself if you do that and you're going to create more pressure for yourself than you need to.

jsigone,
If you have been rolling the ball that well (7 games with 11 strikes), its only a matter of time before you notch another 300 game. Concentrate on whats going to happen,..not what should have happened. Your bowling well,...enjoy it. smile

thanks guys, last night I was just beating myself up for that bad swing in the 3rd. Thats the best part of this sport, there's always more to improve and another game to do it on.

Don't feel bad, we've all been there. The first league game I shot that really should have been a 300 I screwed up in the 2nd frame. It was the first game and I had a strike in the 1st frame but just didn't feel on target so I made a few board move in the second frame and missed the pocket. I spared, moved back to my starting board and proceeded to throw all good strikes the rest the game. Do'h! wink

I still don't have a sanctioned 300 but my teammates say the same thing as Eraser, as close as I get on a semi-regular basis it's only a matter of time. So you will get there too!

Hey, I wish I could perform well enough to get a shot at a 300. My best is a 278 and that could've been a 300 if it weren't for the blasted ringing ten pin. Oh well. You always have today.

Demo, you will get there. It took me about 12 years of league bowling before I finally started getting some really high scores on a regular basis, and another couple of years before I got my first and only 300 which actually happened in practice. I didn't bowl my first 270+ game until I had been bowling leagues for about 9 years and it happened in open play not league and was a bit of a fluke (dang...I still have a copy of the scoresheet, it was 2003). At that point I was a 180ish average and rarely scored above 220-230 in league. I often thought "I wonder if I will ever"...now I wonder how many. smile What made a difference was getting on a team with 2 other 200+ average bowlers who helped get my game to that next level, before I was always on teams with recreational bowlers and that was mostly what I was. So keep practicing and bowling and it will happen.

I wish I could get on a team with two experinced bowlers or even one who know a lot about the sport. All of my team mates don't seem to know enough or don't want to share. When I do ask for help I get a whole list of things to do to help my game but trying to do 7 new things at once instead of one at a time is tough for anyone especially during league. And even worse when I try to help them, they either ignore me or do the exact opposite of what I suggested. I think it's either my age or how I explain it or both (my age I think).

Although my one teammate, she does know her stuff. She just has trouble executing. She learned just about everything she knows from her husband, who was an extremely good bowler.

bowling with better people will always bring your game up because you have to fight to either keep up with thim or smoke them. My team is pretty solid, and we all work together so we help each other alot

#1 bower is 210 average
#2 is 198 average
#3 is 196 average
I'm anchor at 208 right now. All of us can bang out good scores when hot. We also have an extra side bet. The guy that bowls a 700+ series gets free lunch from the others the next day. There are 4 of us in the 700 club bet, so if 2 guys get 700, then the other two pay, 3 guys get it that last guys is out $20 haha
