http://tenthboard.net/2008/07/09/july-9-league-nightIt had to happen sometime, but I was under my average on the night in my league for the first time this summer, but it really wasn't that bad, as I was only 7 pins under the figure, and I had a 202 first game, anyway. Team took a beating, though...we only won the second game. I posted it on the blog, but I wanted to give my readers here a look at my team... I'm sure some of you can figure out who I am, but WordPress now has a nice feature where you can add a caption to photos on your blog, so if you need help figuring out who everyone is, I invite you to check out the post linked above.

Well leagues are over for me as I'm no longer in the state of MI. I'm definitely going to miss the bowling in that state.
I manage to shoot 20 pins over average in the travel league, and hit average in the PBAX league. Out of the three patterns I bowled, the scorpion was the most consistent for me. All I can do now is practice until I get settled back home.

I have been neglecting to post mainly because I am in a slump and after an eight week period where I had been on fire it is very depressing to be bowling worse than I ever have since my comeback. I shot a 446 last Thursday which is very low for me. After 7 straight weeks in the 500’s (including a 607 in that time) I have now shot 4 straight weeks in the 400’s (Actually one week a 399). I am picking spares, regularly missing my mark, losing focus, and generally bowling lousy. I hope to get back on Track tonight. The good new is no one is running away in the league and the team is 16-12 and at worse 4 games out of 1st. If we can get on a string who knows. Now that my average is sitting at 158 I hope to take advantage of my handicap once I get back in gear.

Scott, is the whole group bowling lower, or just you?
Has the house changed the oiling practice? Has anything at the house changed, when they oil, type of oil, new laneman, or machine?

Weds night I try to tune up with 2 games before league. I busted out the old Paradigm and rolled 279-247 for a 528 over 2 games. League started and I went 245-232 before running out of carry and correct adjustments for a lousy 171. I still managed a 648 series and as a team we took 5 out of 7 again which should put us up into 3rd definitelt and 2nd possibly.
On the night a team mate who has a 179 average shot a 279 game his all time high. Two lanes over the best 2 finger bowler in the house covered a 7-10 split so it was an interesting night.

Fram by Frame: http://www.bowlsk.com/games/view-series.html?series=3798Off Night tonight. I had two okey games 192 and 193 the first two games. Could of been better if i had picked up 1 more spare a game but didnt. Then last game i jsut could keep my ball on the right side of the head pin. I finally tried to use my spare ball in the 8th frame and it worked a little too late to recover from all the splits and opens for a 147. Series not that good 532. Oh well always next week.

Mike was in the 500s for 2 games of practice, Brandon was in the 500s for 3 games, and I was in the 500s for 4 games. I have never wanted to take a bowling ball outside and overhand it in the parking lot as bad as I did after bowling last night. My Execution was absolutely awful. Pull 2 board, push 2 board, push 2 board, pull 2 boards, weak release, push 2 board, over and over again. I made maybe 2 good shots per game? Hard to fill frames when you are leaving designer multi-pin leaves. On the up side, I converted the 7-10. Downside, I left the 6 standing. Dennis the lower average bolwers are bowling better and a lot of the higher average bowlers are down. Just on my team the 2 bolwers tht are normally in the low 140's are averagin 149 and 153 respectively. The pattern seems to be oil, oil, and more oil. There has not been a change in personell that I know of.
Now last night was a different story. It was like the last 4 weeks had never happened. I was throwing at a good speed and getting the ball to snap into the pocket. Actually my biggest problem was I was playing so close to the gutter throwing on the 3rd or 4th board that it was causing me to pull the ball because I was afraid I would drop it in the channel. I kept trying to remember what my Dad tells me "Trust is a must or your game is a bust" but I stilled pulled it about a dozen times, missing the pocket on about 4 of those but also crossing over Brooklyn and carrying on about 4. I shot a 529 (160,185,184). Everyone on both teams bowled above their average so we split the four games.
I need to learn how to handle the lanes when they are super oily all the way down by slowing down my speed with consistency. My problem is if when I mess with my ball speed I can never seem to get a consistent speed.

There has not been a change in personell that I know of. This tells me that the lanes are different, moreso than you. Changes is oil patterns, or oiling regularity will affect the lower averages less than yourself. Straight ballers or more direct lines we see little affect. This tells me that the outside is too dry, or has been used because the oil was laid down earlier, and bowlers used the lanes. You have to move left and roll your ball out to let it come back. Try targeting 12 at the arrows and getting your ball out to 5 at the break. You should have enough to bring the ball back to the pocket. I need to learn how to handle the lanes when they are super oily all the way down by slowing down my speed with consistency. My problem is if when I mess with my ball speed I can never seem to get a consistent speed. Speed is critical on oil and dry. This has to be learned, and it doesn't mean a stronger arm or faster feet. Hold your ball at presentation higher for more speed or lower for less. If you still encounter problems, you have to learn to adjust your access of rotation. Simplest way is to move your ball hand index finger out (away from middle finger) for more rotation, and in (tight to the middle finger) for less. At the same time, your little finger moves out for less.
