I can't turn the score off in any center I bowl in. The score adds up, but it doesn't mean much. Especially, if I am shooting 10 pins on the first ball, and a pick up on the second. So, the score is there, I just don't look at it. But, I do know I shot a low score of 34 when shooting corner pins only.
Now, it doesn't matter, but I so leave the scorer on when Practicing my release. Seems like I may release differently on first ball, or left or right spares. But, there, I keep Track of whether I pull, or release wrong.

I'm not really reading the articles to fix anything per say. It's more like I'm reading them for the knowledge and know how. They are more of a learning tool instead of something being used to fix a part of my game.

Plus like Ron said in one of the articles I read today, "THERE IS NO ONE WAY TO DO THINGS IN BOWLING." So I'm merely learning about them, going to try them out and if they work and help me great, I've become that much more of a threat, and if they don't oh well, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

yup when you just go to try things score dont matter. i look to see what it is and go on with it. i bowl for 2 hours on thursdays sometimes. so i put my self into one or 2 games. then work on spares most of the rest of the time or my release. which i'm trying to work on he most right now. and BTM did have a good article about it.

I'd love to get BTM but I can't afford it right now. I'm going to be starting my new job this week so maybe in a couple of months or so (college expenses). Ouch!!!!!!!! It hurts just thinking about it.
That's one thing that I should practice more. When I started bowling competitively last summer, I was a spare Master. I'd pick up just about anything, but then I got my Black Widow and my spare game disappeared. Now I miss relatively easy spares which bugs me and pick up potentially harder spares. But hey what are you going to do (besides spare practice)?

So I was overloading my brain again today, lol, with some of Ron C.'s tips and there was one line that I thought was really interesting. It was concerning ball speed but I think it can be used to help people gain a better perpective on a free armswing. He said, "Think of your hand as a passenger along for the ride, and not the engine."

It is a very interesting perspective. Any thoughts about it?

Ron has told me not to let the down swing go faster than the back swing which has helped keep me from pulling down on the shot.

Doesn't Jowdy say that the free armswing initiates with the hand, and to lead with the ring finger? Or am I mis-interpreting (or more likely mis-remembering) him?

I really like how thats put, your hand like a passenger..not the engine. I will have to remember that. My number one problem is just that, pulling down on the shot. It gives you something to visualize, and maybe make it a little easier for me to correct when I start to sling it.

Thanks DD for posting that little gem. wink

But I only have one D in my name. And I prefer TDM or Demo if you want to abbreviate my name.
