I was just reading some of Ron C.'s tips and there was a lot of helpful information in them and it was draining. I only read the first 7 and my head hurts. there was a lot of information in them that I knew about but some put more that I didn't. I learned a lot and I'm going to try a few of these things next time I go practice.

The big one was the importance of the trail leg which I think has been one of my issues the past couple of weeks. I only just resently found a good release stance where it is used effectively.

Well read less of them at a time then. stop rotfl

Too much info at one time can lead to too much thinking on the lanes and might make it a bit difficult to do those things right.

I did this reading overload as well, right after I posted my video for feedback. When I got to the lanes...worst games i ever played. Too much went through my mind(Cup,uncup,10oclock,relax hand, turn at feet, drop at ankle,45degree,breakpoint..etc) It was so horrible because I already knew how to bowl, i was just trying to do everything different. Then tried i thing at a time and then i completely lost my muscle memory trying to redo everything.

So I sat down and rested a few, and bowled normally with no tips, no new helpful stuff, cleared my mind, then just focused on target bowling normal. Improved just a tad bit, but i got my composure back and then practiced 1 thing at a time like you normally should. Gave up that night but the next night went a whole lot better. 1 thing at time (Eventhough reading so many good tips) is the way to go. i hate it but i guess its the learning process.

Ha ha ha, I did the exact same thing a month or so ago! It would take me as long as a minute to run through everything I wanted to make sure I did on my next roll. My bowling became alot more erratic because I was trying to do too much at once!

I guess less really is more!

I'm not going to try to do everything at once. A lot of the things that he was talking about I already do, but it was nice to know why I do them or were taught them or why certain things are important or not. Even the things that I might try to work in my game I'm, going to experiment with them in practice before I incorporate them into may game, and if they work out cool, if not, oh well. I don't want to force it on myself and screw up my game and then spend the next two months trying to get back where I was to begin with.

Also it's nice to learn a few things that might help you out later on in a match or tournament, like the differences in finger position.

i do that too. i read something on here or in BTM and try all of it at once. bowled a 93 two weeks ago trying to adjust my revs after reading an issue of BTM. gutter after gutter. but i learned not to do that again. one at a time laugh

That's why you should work on things in practice. You shouldn't know if you shot a 93, because if the scorer is on, it's not practice.

In a lot of centers around me its hard to keep Track of games without the scorer being on some of them the lanes won't turn on without the scores being on, and I go in planning on bowling X amount of games/frames usually between 3 to 5 games. When I'm actually practicing I don't care what the score reads, it could be 0 or 300. Ok maybe not 0, since that probably means I'm not doing what ever I am working on right at all.

I've done that a few times. Looking into advice too much or try to fix too many things at the same time. My practice consists of getting reps and working on a small parts of my game that are lacking one thing at a time.

I don't have the option of turning my scorer off. To each their own, having a flawless physical game before the foul line is great but it needs to show up on the screen as well. Then again that's just my take on it.
