I would have to agree with Erin that the Pro Shop guy is trying to get some balls cheap. I have been bowling an long time and have balls that date back 35 years. None of them have ever developed cracks. I store mine in my basement where the temperature fluctuates between 50F in the winter and 80F in the summer.

Yeah, he thought that he did it. I don't know if you have ever tried but breaking a ball apart is not easy (under normal conditions). Lets just say that it takes a few hits from a sledgehammer grin

Thanks for all of the input. I kind of agree with Erin also; I figured that the Pro Shop guy was feed me a load of BS, but wanted to run it past people's opinions that I trust. Like I said, the first ball, my first reactive ball ever, was a second hand ball so I wasn't quite so upset, but the Punisher was purchased new and drilled by the Pro Shop guy about a year ago and still looks like new with around 40 to 50 games on it. It shows no wear and tear, no Track marks, kept inside at a fairly constant temperature. Even the humidity here in Thailand near the gulf is relatively stable. A friend of mine over here said that I should take it back to him to see if it can be replaced by his distributor. He had one that had been cracked and was replaced. I've got to check the date of purchase; it may still be less than one year old and under the original warranty.

Again thanks,

Pattayabowler

Depending on how old it is, they should replace it. A few years ago, Storm had a bunch of their Paradigms and Paradigm Passions that were cracking (faulty mixture in the coverstock). They replaced them, no questions.

Thought I'd throw this out there for somebody it might concern. My first ball was a Black Widow, I left it out in the trunk of my car on a 110 degree day. Busted a third of the shell off when I hit the gutter at about 19mph going after the 7 pin. Now I'll bring it inside if it's over 90 F.

Good luck!

110 outside means a lot warmer in the trunk of your metal trunk.

I try not to leave my equipment in my car for more than a couple of hours when the A/C isn't running. I actually had a thermometer in my car for for a few weeks, one on on the passenger seat and one in my glovebox. I was actually testing temps because I leave a couple of flashlights in my car and was worried about the batteries getting too hot. The highest temp I got in the car was 140f, glovebox was 125f, the range across most days was 120-130 in the car and 110-120 in the glovebox. Outside temps were between 95-100, most the days I checked were sunny or partly sunny, but some days were cloudy, and my car is out in the open (I don't have a garage or carport).

Luckily, i haven't had a ball crack on me yet, but i haven't been too careful about the temperature i store it in.... i just assumed it's tough enough that i wouldn't need to worry about that.... now, i'm starting to get paranoid that it's gonna shatter on me mid-game, but at least i'm keeping better care of it now.
