What color hadda patch do you use?..I just bought some on the internet and didn't know which one to get.. I got the #1 slickest .. I think the blue.. didn't know if slickest was good or bad but I read that the blue(or whatever one I got) was the thinnest so I figured that would be the best.

I get some rubbing on the side of my thumb but I don't think it is a thumb pitch issue.. just the weight of the ball on my thumb when I release it. If someone thinks different please let me know. I would love the perfect fit but I don't have the time, money and patience to try 6 or 7 different thumb pitches looking for the perfect one. I don't have any release problems that I can tell.

I use the red but I think it's discontinued now.

Thanks Lefty. That kinda gives me something to compare to for where I should be.

You should do a hot water bath every 40 to 50 games which is about how long the tape should be replaced anyway. The carpet would last longer, but the tape turns green at about that time and needs to be replaced anyway. The magic carpet can be stuck to a tape back and reused some times.

Edit: Definitely tape the holes before doing the hot water bath. If water gets into the core then gets cold or hot it will expand or shrink the core faster than the cover and crack the coverstock or become separated from it.

Really? I've never had any problems not replacing my tape after a hot water bath. I don't experience any moisture because I get the water out, repeatedly put my thumb in and out until it starts to feel less moist, and the holes dry over night. I only worry about the carpet not because of the adhesive(because I'm sure it will stay) but because of the carpet material getting ruined. If I remove the carpet at any point, the adhesive doesn't work anymore and I'd need a new piece. I found that out when I put my first piece of carpet in wrong and had to remove it to fix it, then it didn't stick anymore.
