Hi guys,it's been a while since a post a question here.Ok,here's my problem.
1)i have problem with my 5-step approach, where i always over the foul line.my friends said that i should start from 1 step behind my regular standing approach, but i feel not quite comfortable and i kept on missed my target.
2)i also try to change to each of my steps shorter, and my delivery went nuts.

Try shortening your first step only to just a slide or half. Pushoff should be on the second step anyhow.
To set your starting position, start at the foul line and take normal steps back. Add a half step, and that's where you start.

Where on the approach do you start? Is it at the 2nd (front) set of dots? Also on which step do you start your armswing?
I am 5'10", not exactly tall but not short, and I use a 5 step approach. I line up so that the back row of dots is halfway down my foot (I put the dot right in my arch) and take normal walking pace sized steps, and I usually end up a good 8"-12" behind the line. Just guessing but I would say you are probably starting too far forward for your normal stride, though you could also be taking too large of steps and not realizing it. Let us know where you start on the approach and when you start your armswing and we can go from there.
Check your shoes. Sometimes shoes develop a glaze(wax and oil pickup) on the soles and heels that would cause you to slide over the foul line. If this is the case, take some sandpaper and remove the glaze on the sole and heel and then use a brass bristle brush to finish the job.

I posted something for you to try but I guess it didn't take. Oh well here it is again.
Start with your heels as close as possible to the foul line and then do your approach towards the ball return, slide and everything. Where ever you stop either right there is where you should start or you can move another 4 to 6 inches back (this is something I do as a precaution, more of a just in case thing).
Granted if you are starting somewhere different from where you usually start you will probably have to adjust because the angle into the pocket will be different if you are further back or closer to the line.
Also might be a good idea to check your shoes. That could also help.
The last thing I could suggest is to maybe shorten the first step into a slide. It might help. I have a 5-step and that's what I use.
Are you sliding over the foul line or are you stumbling and stepping over it? I forgot to ask. If it is the first than the little technique I mentioned above should take care of the problem.
