The USBC league sanction application HAS to have a secretary, treasurer and president. The league cannot be sanctioned without them. If the house is running the league then someone had to be put down in those positions. And therefore responsible for the league's money as well as your membership. I would contact your local association and find out the status on the league sanctioning. Could be that the house never handed in the sanction or the memberships.

You do need to pay for regular USBC membership and Sport membership. In our associaiton if you do not have prior USBC membership that's $34 ($19 + $15). If you already have membership from the winter season then you just need to buy the $15 sport upgrade.

I'll ask on Monday. I was initially told that I would get it in 2-3 weeks and it would be mailed to my house. It was $37 total, $19+$15+$3.

yes, it will be mailed to your home provided that no typos or address errors are made. And once it goes into the assoc. computer it is just a matter of a couple weeks before you should see your card. If you leave off an apartment number or any issue with the address then the US Post Office will not deliver. Prior to this last year we received all these bad address cards at the local association. However, last year, we didn't get any, so I'm thinking that they all go back to USBC now. Either way, bowl.com should have your membership status. If they do not, then the local assoc. never received the sanction or has not put it into the computer yet. But we have a good amount of summer leagues here and I'm caught up on my summer sanctioning entries. Its just a day turn around now when a sanction walks in the door.

Just curious, what was the $3 for? I can see your regular USBC membership at $19 and the sport upgrade at $15 but was curious about the $3.

I guess, each Association makes up their own charges, which seems odd to me. I am in 2 different Associations. One charges $16, while the other charges $8. Sport sanction in the first was $8.

Dennis, what happens is that when you are in multiple associations you pay for local dues only.

So the first association you join you pay your national and possibly state dues, in addition to that local dues.

For me is $10 = National
$1 = State
$8 = Local

If i go to neighboring Motherlode association and bowl there, I'd have to pay another $8 for their Local dues. Because my National and State dues are already paid.

In areas where local associations are right next to each other and people commonly go from house to house, it gets confusing.

Sport upgrade is now $15. I don't know why its so high, I don't think the bowler gets anything for it and it all goes to USBC none stays locally to help the center pull tapes and such. Plus the awards specific to sport are almost nil, so its not awards. Now all Jr Gold kids, get free sport upgrades. So maybe part of the adult $15 goes to make up that? And when you buy that sport upgrade its only for the time remaining in your current USBC membership, not for a full year. The only time its for a full year is if you buy your USBC and Sport sanction at the same time. So everyone that I just upgraded for this summer league only has sport membership until end of the summer. If they want to bowl the winter PBA league they'll have to pay another $15. Is this sounding like a racket to you yet?

$15 per league, Summer and Fall for a Sport sanction, just to have my average print in Blue ink instead of Black on the Association register.

I guess this is another reason why so many Sport Leagues are not sanctioned as such.
