We use several different leading and respected ad networks to sell and deliver ads on the site in order to cover our expenses and continue operating. As part of our agreement with these ad networks they are not to display any popups or interstitial ads.
However, since some allow trusted advertisers to host their own ads on their own servers, very rarely (this is the first time it ever happened to us) a rouge advertiser some how gets into the trusted program and will then replace an "approved ad" with something else.
We just became aware that this is happening and an "unapproved ad" has been displaying occasionally for maybe a few days. While we have notified all the ad networks this is happening the unapproved ad may still be in rotation.
When this unapproved ad comes up in the rotation and is displayed it fills the entire page instead of the link/page you clicked on. This is called an interstitial ad. The ad has a link somewhere on it saying something like, "click to continue" or "click to go back to the site." Do not click on the links in the interstitial ad or anywhere on the ad itself. We don't know where they go to or what they might do.[/b]
Instead, copy (Ctrl-c) the URL in your address bar, and paste (Ctrl-v) that address into Notepad or Textedit and then hit the back button on your web browser. Please copy the BowlingCommunity.com URL in the address bar and paste it below the first link. You should be able to then reload the page (F5) and click on the link you wanted to go to but it would be extremely helpful to us if you could post those two links you copied to this topic so we can track down who is displaying these ads and have them blocked!
We're very sorry about this and hope you will understand that it's not our intention to display interstitial or popup ads.
As soon as we determine which ad network is displaying these we will make sure they're blocked and if for some reason they're not blocked immediately we'll completely remove that ad network from the rotation until they are.
