Don't miss the PBA Team Shootout from Six Flags America today at 1pm eastern time on ESPN.

If I am back from taking my brother in law to the airport I will be in the chat room if not, I will try to be there every week bowling is on to discus how they are playing the lanes, strategies and equipment and just having fun.

My Brother-in-law has to be at the airport at 3pm my time, so I will not be able to make the chat room this week, but I will be there next week.

Hey guys, I have a quick question on the Viper pattern that they used in this round. They may be a pretty elementary question, so bear with me...

When they were showing the ideal lines for the pattern for right handed and left handed bowlers, it looked like the lefties would be throwing from the 5 board straight up, where on the right, they mentioned that bowlers would throw anywhere from the 10 and 20 to the 5 at the breakpoint.

Is this a byproduct of the pattern or is this due to the lefties they had playing (I think they were Parker Bohn III and Patrick Healy?) were more stroker types and the righties were more tweeners like Chris Barnes?

Lefties tend to play the lane from front to back where right handers play from left to right because there are more of them and the head oil will break down faster.

If Jason Couch was there he most likely would have been playing the same line as Patrick Allen and Parker Bohn, maybe 5 boards right of them, but if he was right handed he would be in around 20 with Robert Smith. Lefties always seem to be able to get extra speed and are able to get the ball through dry heads better than right handers, this allows them to play the same line for longer periods of time. Right handers tend to move faster because there are so many people playing same line that the first one to move and find fresh oil is usually rewarded with strikes.
