Is there any place that describes Sweeper or Monte Carlo nights for leagues. I know the general desciption, but have been asked what the differences are.

Well,

Sweepers are like a little mini tournament done within the league. Usually this is done while the top 4 or 2 teams roll off for league championship. Sometimes its just an extra week, after the league is done for an extra tournament like experience. Sweepers can be optional and sometimes you pay extra to participate.

Monte Carlo, means to me, colored pins in the rack and house lights turned off. Usually about 4 or 8 pins are replaced with colored pins. When a colored pin comes up in the head pin position and you get a strike, you typically get a small cash bonus. You can also get similar rewards if you leave colored pin spare combinations. Depends on how the night is formatted. Many houses around here have this on Saturday nights.

Now I suppose you could have league Sweepers in a Monte Carlo type format. It just all depends on how your league is set up.

Hope that clears up some of your questions.

Erin

In one of our summer leagues on final night they had a red pin in the rotation on each lane and every time you hit a strike with red pin in #1 position you got a coupon for a free game.
