Just saw the updated standings sheet on LeagueSecretary.com, and my team is currently in first place. It looks like the standings are updated by Friday, so Fridays will probably be the best days to look for updates. Link to the standings sheet is below.

Well I thought things were starting to look well this week... First game the kiddo bowls a 106, about 16 pins under average. Then I pull out a 212. Just two opens (a split in the first frame then chopped a 3-6), and a 9 count after a spare in the 10th. Second game the kiddo bowls a 113, and I drop off to a 142. I've really got to figure out my adjustments when my line changes ever so slightly as it's starting to wear on me. Tried anything from 1/4 of a board, to 3 boards and everything in between. Ended up with a few splits, and just bad shots on some of my spares. We were 14-1 going into the day, lost 2 of 3 so we'll be at 15-3 next week. Still commanding first place though!

Well, I'm definitely finding out why I don't bowl summer leagues...I am totally not there. After finally pulling my game back together over the last four months of winter, I have once again lost it, but I attribute that to just not feeling summer league. I thought I could use it as a tuneup for my summer tournaments/winter 2008-2009, but it's turning into a debacle. I shot a 533 last week, complete with a 137 in the second game...lots of transition in that game and I just wasn't focused enough to make the adjustments.
But I think the problem lies a little deeper than just summer bowling...

Travel League at my home place pretty much (where I practice most of the time) 512 set.
208, 203, 101!?
Let the head scratching begin...
Last game I was afraid of chasing it in because I didn't feel my equipment was up to par with others even with wood surfaces. I was afraid that I would spray and get buckets and light splits so I tried to stay in the area I was at and force it to work! Big mistake. I don't need to explain what that means the score speaks for itself.
The possibles: -Chopped a 3-6-10 -Did not account my speed for a bucket and a 3-5-6 and chopped them both by a very small margin (just enough to miss it though). Didn't make excuses about lanes; I knew what was going on although when I did account for a 1-3 in the second game (only open) I did throw it harder and chopped the headpin so maybe that factored in there.
I did get lucky and managed through brackets to win some money though so I'm good.
Got the cheetahmeleon for the last time tomorrow night in PBA before Scorpion (hopefully) comes calling.

Last night I went to practice on the Chameleon pattern, taking advantage of our centers new policy of setting up 10 lanes for PBA practice on Mondays.
I was anxious to try what I had learned from a lesson I had with my coach over the weekend. She pointed out that my arm swing was tight and muscled, and to let my left arm bear the weight of the ball. These are things I knew, but for some reason..I was'nt doing.
I did ok, averaging 180 over three games, and I started to get that "feel" of a loose arm swing again. I had taken an extra ball to try out on the pattern, and had it sitting on top of my four ball bag. As I started to leave, the ball fell off and landed directly on the big toe of my slide foot. Now I have a blue toe and don't know if I can bowl on Thursday.

Sorry to read about the toe Eraser. I'm quite stubborn so I'd probably bowl through it lol... As I didn't really give my rib a rest at all when I messed it up. Hope all goes well with whatever you do!

It has taken me until now to post about my series last Thursday because I just could not bring myself to do it. After weeks and weeks of doing so well and averaging at close to a 180 clip over the last 7 or 8 weeks I go and shoot my lowest series and game since my comeback 2 years ago, a 420 (138, 113, 169). Most of it was because I was stubborn and refused to move.
All I can do is get back on the horse but what a letdown. This game can really humble you if you start thinking you have it figured out.

Eraser, OUCH, sorry to here about your toe. Good that you saw your coach. What seems like a minor thing, muscling, can really affect other things. Hope you are able to bowl on Thursday.
Scott, WHAT HAPPENED? You were going so well. Then, BANG!
I practiced on the Cheetah again, Monday. I took advantage of the .99 per game opportunity. I signed up for 6 games, and late in the second game the lanes went black. The desk accidentally shut off my lane instead of the next one. Desk guy came over and said he would restart my 6 games. So, I bowled 8.
I am really starting to understand why the pros roll straight at spares. The Cheetah really kills my spare game. The final 10 feet of hook is a killer. Chop, chop, chop. The stats said I averaged 189 for 8 games, but also averaged almost 3 missed spares per game. And, they weren't splits.
Just a question. If I can pay .99 cents per game to practice, why does the league charge $16 for 4 games? $10 is the house fee. That house computer to Track averages is really expensive.

Eraser - Thats gotta hurt hope you feeling better by Thursday.
Scott - Dont worry one bad night just forget about it and move on. I had nights like that when i tried to force a line i wanted to play instead of playing a line that condition was allowing.

Thanks all, Toe is much better a day later. I should be able to bowl...I would have anyways..LOL.
Scott Bad days happen. You have been doing so well lately..so the good bowling is now the norm for you. That one bad outing you had last week is just a hiccup, you will get back on it this week. Just a minor glitch that comes up from time to time. Could be the laneman did'nt prepare the lane properly. Yeh thats it....blame it on the laneman..LOL. You'll be fine this week.
Dennis I hear you about the spare ball.I have been chopping them off too untill I wised up and used my spare ball more frequently. At my house I pay .33 cents a game during the summer because I bowl on the PBAX league there. That also left me scratching my head at the $15.00 charge per week for league play for 4 games. Got to pay for the overhead somehow I guess.
