Just found this thread, and yes I get pumped every week for my Friday league. heck, it's Thursday and I am pumped. I bowl in a pretty competitive Friday night men's league and we are in 2nd place now. We are back about 2 games. Funny (not really) thing is, when we bowled head to head against them (#1 team) about 3 weeks ago I stunk up the place. Each of my 4 teammates bowled over their averages and I ened up about 30 pins under for the series and we lost 5 of 7 points. I have since picked it up and am averaging (as a percentage of avg.) better than them and everything seems to be coming along. We had our first position round last week and we took all 7 points against the 4 team and this moved us into 2nd. I will keep you updated as long as you guys are doing the same.

Cool Murph, welcome to the thread and nice job on your position round! Yea it's Thursday and I'm already itching for Friday night bowling. I thought Monday night league would cure my impatience, but alas it has not.
About my Monday night league, it is lots more competitive than our Friday night league. On Fridays, I think we have 1 or 2 bowlers over 200 average. On Mondays I'd put well over 50-60% of the bowlers over 200 average. So anyways, as of now, we're 1st place in the Friday night league and 2nd to last (different team except for 1 bowler) on Monday nights but coming on strong. The Friday league is 8 teams, Monday is 10 teams.

Very trying night last night, new oil pattern left the entire league searching for a line. Scores were down across and I was not any better then the rest. 158,183,165 for a paltry 506
all over my average (156 and climbing) but nowhere near what I have been doing latetly. We won the first 2 games by 53 and 17 but lost the 3rd and overall as our opponants didn't seem to struggle as much as my team. We took 4 pts out of 7 and hopefully that will be enough to keep us in 2nd.

Sounds like you did better than me. Did manage to bring my average up a point to 149, and my team won 4 games to stay in first place but my bowling was disappointing.
I hate to make excuses, but I hurt my back last week so I didn't practice during the week and I was also tired and didn't really feel like bowling. Plus I made some really dumb moves, like gutterballing after a double and I struggled with leaving the 10 all night long and missed the spare at the 10 almost everytime.
The rest of my team did really good, and the team that we bowled did well too.
At least one of my teammates and I split the mystery pot after the first game.

Good game to finish with, though Mutilated1. That should give you some confidence for your next outing. Hi Murph, yours wasn't all that bad.. over your average, so it will help. I know there are some nights when, no matter how hard you try, you just don't seem to able to do better than your average (plus or minus a few pins). I have had a couple of those myself just recently. It is annoying, but the games are done, so there is no reason to dwell on it. I try to pinpoint what I was doing wrong and practice doing it right mentally until I can get back to the lanes to try it out for real. I just came back from a solid session and only started to get it right in the last few minutes of my hour and a half. I feel ready to go back to the league on Tuesday and do it properly this time. Have fun, you guys and see you when you next report in.

I am so ready for league tomorrow night. My team is in first place by one game and we are playing the number 2 team.
I've limited my practicing this week so the only practicing I've done is in the Sunday afternoon tourney and the Weds Morning and Evening pot-bowls we have. Weds morning I bowled ( 189, 171, 198, 222, and 209 ). Weds night I bowled ( 187, 153, 200 ).
I know that there is going to be fresh oil Friday night and that I seem to do better the day after league when the oil is broken down for some reason, but I'm confidently expecting to score my first official 200 game in league tomorrow night.
I got a feeling its finally going to happen this weekend. My hurt back is a lot better, and the blisters on my thumbs are completely healed, so physically I think I'm prepared to do it. And I picked up the single 10 spare almost everytime on Weds at the pot-bowls. I won all three pots on Weds also!

Well, I had a busy weekend last week and didn't get a chance to post here. So I'll go ahead and post now (same day as my Friday night league). I had my worst week of league so far. I don't know if it was the oil or what but I could not find my mark. I was hitting in the pocket pretty consistently but never could carry all 10 pins. I moved everywhere from standing on the 10 to in at the 30, and my marks ranged from the 8 board to the 16. Never any real drastic changes but I was changing a board or 2 every shot, trying to find that sweet spot. It never happened.
I have a 162 average right now in this league and I know I barely broke 400 total pins, so I bowled about 30 below my average. Also in my other league my average is higher (175), so 130s average is really disappointing. I've had a full week of rest (was out of town for my Monday league), so hopefully tonight I can come back with a fresh mind and body.
