Yes to harem. Northern VA yes, and yes!
Thanks guys.. I feel very welcomed. I'm really trying to improve. Back to bowling..
Lets go 216. My highest score which I hit yesterday. I was watching a couple of Chris Barnes clips and (Paul III) something like that. Wrist positions, and the balancing arm curved in. WoW! Learned a lot from that but that's another topic. See ya around
Welcome to the site Juyce. As you have already noticed the people on this site are very helpful, will encourage you and congratulate you on what every your own personal goals and accomplishments are. Congrats on your current high score and lets hope you set an even higher one soon.
As for being a bowling freak, no one on here will call you that, us bowling freaks think those that don't bowl are non-bowling freaks. LOL.

Yep all Bowl Americas in this area will offer the 10.99 unlimited from 9-11pm Sun-Thur :-D It's a great deal, especially if you're practicing alone or with a friend. Shirley can get some unsavory crowds on busier nights, but the condition of the place is pretty good. I personally bowl league at Burke BA and sometimes hit Falls Church. Annandale is a frickin' sauna and is apparently closing in under a year anyways.

AMF should be ashamed of what happened to Annandale, that was the highest scoring house in the 70s all the way until the early 90s when AMF took it over.
I wonder why they buy these places only to let them run down and turn into dumps then close them down for a huge loss.

Indeed, Coach. That's the subject of a thread I posted a few weeks back about wondering why bowling centers tend to dilapidate into messes more so than other brick 'n' mortar, sporting or general business, establishments. It's a shame that Annandale seems to be going away for good. At least there are still several other fairly good quality centers around here. I should really explore Maryland some more...
AMF has sold off some of the properties that the centers sit on and then lease the property to keep the center there, at least for a little bit. AMF's President or CEO or someone like has even stated in a letter to a bowling trade magazine that they are going to focus on the food more. I guess AMF is soon going to stand for Always Marketing Food. Why else hire center managers from IHOP and other restaurants that know nothing about bowling, nor how to run a bowling center and get rid of anyone that has an idea of what to do? But I digress, back to your regularly scheduled welcoming thread.

Eastwest, I think it is funny that in the other thread we really didn't know each other too well and we were both talking about the same place without really mentioning it by name.

I'm very late to this party, but welcome Juyce. Seeing how you live close to CoachJim, maybe you can get a few lessons from him if you're willing to invest the cash. Jim's helped me quite a bit just online since my return, so I can only imagine how good the bowlers he's helped in person are.
Also, if your situation allows it, I'd like to invite you to join the chat weekdays...link to the Flash chat applet is in the menu under the masthead.
