Sunday is the big day...the start of my first league Two male friends of mine and a local girl will be joining me and we're all looking very forward to this.
p.s. - CoachJim was right about Annandale being a SAUNA. Apparently the property's being re-zoned for a strip mall anyways.
Had a bad night in league play last night. The bowling center remodelled their settee area and have arranged high tables and bar stools where the previous bench seats were. This has resulted in encouraging people to bring their sodas & drinks out into the area and apparently their were kids having a party down on the pair we bowled on last night. The floor was sticky and got on to the approaches from lanes 1 through 4. It was treacherous and everyone was concerned about getting injures. As a result, the scores suffered and I only managed a 550 series. I'm going to complain to the house mgmt; they need to make it clear that there will be no drinks allowed in the settee area. The other bad thing about the remodel is that they placed every other high table about 2 1/2" from the approach deck and makes everything seem cramped.

I'll always post the details of my league bowling in my blog (the post slug will be linked below), but to sum up, all I can say is that I wish I could've done a bit better in my first night back, but I still wasn't too far off of what I was practicing at (I averaged 156 on the night). I have good teammates, though, so I'm expecting good things of us through the summer. And it does feel good to be back, which was really what mattered to me last night.

My summer league is two weeks in, been an interesing few weeks for me from the end of my fall/winter/spring league. Teamwise, we are 26-24 out of a possible 25 points a week, not a terrible start. First week, I had a good line to the pocket, but made some silly mistakes and ended up with an 864 for the 4 games. This Tuesday night, it was extremely hot both outside and inside, and our pair had some real bad carrydown issues. Fortunately, I made a smart move to the right coupled with a good ball change towards the end of the 3rd game when the carrydown got really bad and ended up shooting an 884 for the 4 games. I'm hoping for cooler weather next week.

Last night, the lanes were oiled in a reverse pattern, and buffed to the pin deck. Really don't know what that means, but that is what I was told.
I read this and two things come to mind. Either it was a reverse block with the heavy concentration of oil on the outside and dry inside, the polar opposite of a typical house shot and then just what ever oil is on the pads/brushes is applied to the pins. The other thing that comes to mind is they flipped the pattern front to back. Such as a Christmas tree pattern with the "tip" at the foul line and then flaring out to the "base" at the far end of the lane with the amount of oil also being flipped, the heavier concentration at the wide base with it being buffed the rest of the way like I mentioned before. I could be wrong in either instance. Either way its a bit more challenging than the same old everyday house shot.
As for multiple versions of one particular ball, I thought about doing it with Purple Ogres before, different drilling patterns and different surfaces.

Started my summer league on Tuesday. it's a PBAX league and we started on the Chameleon. I averaged 181 which isn't all that bad in general but if I'd have picked up all my makeable spares that probably would be at least 195. Something just wasn't letting me hit them(I only missed them by inches when I did).
Thursday Night Summer League started tonight. This year i went into the league not knowing who i was going to bowl with. I was paired with a good friend i know from winter league i bowl in. We were paired with two low average bowlers. It should be intresting year see if we can use the high hadicap they may give us to our advantage.
Well tonight. I'm riding a good streak of bowling for past two week 602 & 693 last week so i was hoping to give it a shot and keep it going.
Game 1: Started using my Resurgence. There was some oil on the lane not a lot. Seems like there back to there summer oiling pratices. So first game i had two open wiffed 10 pin in the 7th and left choped baby split in the 10th for 201
Game 2: Decided on Ball Change cause 10th frame went high. So changed to Roto-Grip Illusion i only thrown this ball once in practice so still unsure on reacation. I actually had some good results though again wiffed 10 pin in the 10th frame. 7th -10th i left 10 pins and managed to pick them all up except the 10th frame argh. Though i ended up with 195
Game 3: I Decided to make speed adjustment to slow it down a little to see if i would help not leave ringing ten pin it did. I started off with a turkey the 9/ XX 9/ X 9/9/X for a 227. No Opens
So 201-195-227 = 623 Not a bad start for the season. Though i started off real good i dont know if i can manage to keep that average up but i certianly try to.

Nice start Brandon!
Last night on my PBA league, we had our last time on the Shark pattern. I did so-so with scores from 141-191-172-170. I just could not keep my speed down, and again had some trouble with my spare game. We did take 9 out of 10 points because we tied the last game. So as a team we are doing ok.
We start the Chameleon pattern next week, a much shorter pattern @ 39 feet. Should be fun, glad to see the Shark go.
