So, yesterday was our last league day for the summer and it was just for fun. It was 9-pin no tap. I bowled 6 games I believe and it wasn't until the fourth game I left a single 9-count, and I left about 8 of them in the next three games. But I started off with no practice and struggled a bit, worked out a 205, stringing the last 5, followed by my second real 300 ever, then a 254 for a 759 series. That's my highest series as well, so I feel pretty accomplished. Just thought I'd share.

Well guys, I finished up the last competitive week of my summer league last night. Our team did well, taking all points against the team that shut us out last week. Personally, I shot 183-187-189. I believe we'll be in 3rd or 2nd place, when all is said and done.
It was a successful first league experience, with our lowest scoring member now (at the start) shooting consistent 150s. I and my other two teammates have improved, and the addition of a spare ball to my bag has considerably helped out in marking frames.
We're all looking forward to Fall/Winter on the same nights, and then a competitive mid-week league for myself and a skilled friend.

I've had a fairly decent summer as well. Most of it has been spent trying to acheive a free swing, fortunately there has been some progress. I've learned quite a few things over the summer, like a spare ball might be a fine addition to my bag. My spare shooting has all but disappeared, and I know why. I'll just have to fix that.
Regardless, I would have to say that I'm pretty happy with my summer leagues. I have a 150 avg. in my first PBA shot league (it's higher than I expected) and my team I believed finished in 5th. And a 185 avg. on my house shot league (15 pin increase from the winter) and I believe that my team finished in second. I haven't looked at the sheet so I'm only guessing. I'm fairly happy with my improvments, but there are still many more to be made.

Boy, things really feel great when everything does well. This was the final night of PBA pattern. Tonight, the Viper, and for some reason, it wasn't a challenge.
Then, I find out they didn't lay it down. Just a House tournament shot. The regular laneman was off, and the replacement didn't know how to lay it. So, he put down a shot the house uses for tournaments. Well, I'm going to have to bowl tournaments at this house.
My arm was lose. Timing was great. Just a few misses all night. 217, 277, 278, 220 for 992 for 4 games. Even though this was not a PBA shot, I feel really good about it.

those middle games are KILLER man, congrats on that and keeping the average with the first and kicker games!!
Tonight was position week, we were in 5th, 2 game back. We played our arch eniemy (showdown last summer for 1st n 2nd). We blew them out the water by 150+ games on the first game, 2nd game came down to me as anchor, threw a turkey in the 10th to win by 9. Last game came down to me again, the guy struck out, I struck out to win by 6. Close close games. Now 3 way tie for 3rd after tonight.
I was having a rough night, 1st game I was getting decent carry but solid back rows on one lane, got a 218. 2nd game was even worse, every frame was solid 9's all back row. Changed balls, threw different lines from the outside and all solid back rows with no love, got a 180. Last game it started the same way. I was getting fed up with, I tried pushing high for more carry and get a split in the 3rd. Changed all tactics. Played REALLY inside, standing right foot on 35, left leg pressed on the machine and drift left, laying the ball down on the 5th arrow and throwing to the 14-15bd with slower speeds and bit more revs. New angle into the pocket was paying off with a couple of strikes and easy spares finishing with a 201. Hard fought 599 tonight.....

Very nice Dennis, with scores like that..on a tourney shot none the less. It looks as though you are ready for the season to start.
I went and practiced on a fresh house shot last. Its the first time I have spent any serious time bowling on a regular house shot in months. I had some trouble early getting lined up, but finished up clean. I am really looking forward to the new season, starting on the 4th of Sept. Still have to order that new ball too.
Well done, Dennis! My thoughts exactly; after a summer of getting kicked in the mouth by the PBA patterns, I'm really looking forward to the fall season.

I finish my summer season off tonight with the Shark. My team is in the middle of the pack. I think that if the chips fall right, we can get 3rd. Right now, I am tied for 2nd for high game with a 264. On Friday I had an outing with work and we went bowling at an alley downtown. There was basically no oil and it was the candle light bowling (which I hate). I was standing against the ball return and basically pitching it right. I was actually releasing my X-Factor fairly well. The people on the left lane left a little early so I was able to move over there. Much nicer not having the ball return there. I didn't want to stand in front of it. I was able to get a nice release on the ball and a nice follow through. I hope it carries over until tonight.
