Hey all. I had my first night of the PBA experience league last night. Boy that was tough. I knew it was going to be. We had the Scorpion pattern last night. I resolved to have all 4 games in triple digits, which I did with a 156, 111, 122, and 181. The one thing that I told myself I had to do was pick up my spares and that I definitely did not do. i left a lot of 5 and 6 pin spares. I throw a Black Widow Solid and it still has the original finish on it (4000 grit Abralon). And I should have my Cell by next Monday and I'm going to try the original finish on that (2000 grit Abralon). My spare ball is Columbia 300 Scout Reactive that I can hook or throw straight. I'm used to hooking it but I decided to throw it straight in this league (it is a skill that I need to develop anyways). I've only been bowling competetively for a year. So any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

I get my first crack at it tonight. Don't even know what pattern we start out on either. I'll just focus on leaving makeable spares. Strikes here and there are fine, I'm too much of a bum to be thinking turkeys and up. Doubles are fine with me.

Everyone who does this should be congratulated! It takes a person with a strong character to put themselves out there on a condition like this that makes you accountable. If you make a good shot, you get rewarded. If you don't, you don't.

Hang in there and relax. You're only going to get better.

Demo, I joined one last summer after having bowled seriously for 1 year. Watching video of me from when I started the league, to when it finished, I really think it helped me become a better bowler. I went in with a 178 house shot average, and ended up in the mid 160s on the PBA shot. It is tough, but it feels so great when you pure one, and you know it off your hand. Keep in there, relax, and have fun with it. It will get frustrating - you will have sets where you only have 1 game over 150. But, you will be glad you did it in the end.

If you can find a good coach, that can watch you on these patterns, one with sport bowling experience, it will help you immensely.

Earlier in the season I was thinking of doing one of the Experience leagues over the summer. With the mess my game is right now its not an option. I'd rather get my game together right now than frustrate myself more and possibly screw my game up more.

I'd like to try PBA League in the future. However, i still working on few things on my game and id like to get some consistency down before i try one. I have subded in one and practice on some of the patterns. First time i bowled on was eye opener i bowled terrible but did show me i still have a lot to work on.

No doubt. All I'm tryin to do is throw four triple digit games a night. My average on the night is a 132, which more than I expected. I'm shooting for a 150 maybe a 160 average by the end. I do have a few things to iron out in my technique. I'm going to use the league mostly to work on my spare shoot consistancy and accuracy. I usually, throw my Scout Reactive at my spares with a hook but I want to develop and work on throwing a straight ball. As well as, get used to the PBA patterns and develop versitile ways of throwing my other bowling balls. Plus I really didn't get angry last night when I threw a bad shot or a good shot that didn't carry or even hit the pocket like I thought, and I want to translate that over into my other leagues.

I've bowled some of those same types of scores on house shots in the last few months with the lowest being below 100. Games around the 160s have been the norm with 190+ being rare. I ended last season and started this season at over 190 and dropped to just below it in one league because I had enough good nights early one to keep me afloat while in the other two I am in the mid 170s, ouch.

infernocal just keep at it. It will have to end sometime. I had a three week stretch like that in the winter were I barely got low 500 series. What I do when I have nights like that is work on something that seems off or foxing something that you know you've been messing up on that night. It was finally shatter with a 609 in my Thursday league and a 655 in my Friday league with a 278 game.

Low 500s, for twelve straight sets over a four week period that was a dream, I did start picking it up a little with a few sets over 600 and going 550+ but then it spiraled back down some. After next week is over my leagues are done I'm taking a week or two break from bowling, getting some much needed work done to my equipment and looking into a coach to help figure out some of the issues. The biggest thing is spares, as I can toss 6+ strikes a game but miss some of the easiest spares, many of them single pins.
