Just to update a couple of things from the sign-up period, my cousins put in their team, and I was surprised to learn that their younger daughter will be joining them. A real family affair...hehehehe! There had been two bowlers on the sign-up board without a team...myself and one other bowler. The other bowler has found a team, and the team the guy that does the lanes in the afternoon is on has a vacancy, so I left a message for him w/ the program director that if he wants, I'd be more than happy to join his team.

I know my 3 lady Coaches on my Tues nite team always bowl together in the Summer. So, I just looked for another team. The thing that impressed me was they asked me to come back next Fall and bowl with them. I guess they accepted me.
I'm one of the gals. I'm a girlfriend. You go, girl!

It does have many tournament bowlers, including some regional PBA bowlers and a few that hit some of the Tour stops. Of course it also has some house bowlers and then even some lower average bowlers, and its an invitational league so not exactly easy to get into. It takes up the 46 of 48 lanes with 2 people a lane totaling almost 92 bowlers. They try to leave a pair open for breakdowns. There was talk of expanding it. I might just stay out of leagues this summer, maybe do a little subbing and definitely some practicing and hit up the weekend doubles tournaments. Maybe make some money off of them to use for a coach to help fix a few things.

well, not summer, but spring league is going well. 4 man teams, thursday nights.
i shot well again, 168- 161-157, have been consistantly hitting 480 or over past 5 times out, and it's boosting my confidence alot. missed spares are no longer the end of the world for me, as i now think i can make up for it the next frame.
5 or 6 of us deciced to bowl another game after the league, and tossed in $5 a man for high score, i promptly threw a 193 scratch, and took the pot! best part about that was, i was clean untill the fill ball! struck on 1st ball in 10th, then left a 5-10 split on the second ball and picked the 5 pin. i was happy to only leave one measly pin on the deck for the whole game.

tbill, what do you attribute your success in the pot games to? Were you focused more? Did you concentrate on your target? Was your pace controlled and timing better?
If you could do that under competitive conditions, you can do it any time.

If you could do that under competitive conditions, you can do it any time. not really sure, to be honest. i think in the long run, i worry more about league scores and raising my average in league, where as the 'pot bowling' in my eyes is a no pressure deal [seems rather backwards]. funny thing is, last three weeks that i've done the 'pot bowling' afterwards, i've won each time, first week i won it with a 211, then the next week was with a 180 something, and this week with a 193. those scores are scratch, as we all get to bowl with our handicap to even it out. i wish i knew the secret, so i COULD do it all the time

ya, true enough. i always seem to bowl better when it's a 'whatever' type thing, versus, we need points.
