Nice bowling Mike..704, good stuff!
Dennis, Very nice set with an 878. Good recovery in the fourth game and ending the night on a very positive note. That will do wonders for the confidence heading into next week. What pattern were you on Dennis?

Eraser, Wed league is a Summer Sport league. It is a 3/1 oil ratio for 39 feet and reverse buffed to the pin deck. They use a heavier viscosity oil so it also lasts pretty long.
I actually don't bowl in a PBAX league for 2 reasons.
First, I created many problems for myself last Summer trying to overcome the pattern variations. And, it took til Feb of this year to get out of them. Second, there just aren't too many PBAX leagues here. Last Summer, all 13 Houses in our association had one. This year, there are only 2, and I don't care much for those houses.
Odd as it seems, the closest center to my house is where I bowl on a PBAX pattern on Monday for the .99 per game practice. But, I have never bowled in a league there. It is also in a different Association.
I like this House I bowl in because it is a bowler's House. 20 lanes, privately owned, and well maintained. Great Pro Shop, and full of good bowlers. The competition is really great, and the bowlers are friendly. They have only retired, older pros running the Center, and there are quite a few local pros bowling out of here. Both the House owner and the Pro Shop owner sponsor a few in a start-up. In return, they have the younger pros work the Pro Shop or give lessons, especially to Youth groups, which the House is full of. They run a full-house schedule of Youth leagues on weekends from Bantam up to Junior. And, is the home lanes for 2 high schools. It's a real bowler's place. No gimmicks, No video game rooms, No Cosmic. Just good bowling. And, they are full of leagues every night of the week, all year round.
Although, the Fall leagues are all 5 man teams and the Summer drops down to 3 or 4. Wed is a Trio league, 4 games per night, 20 teams.
The owner, who bowls right with us, puts down a good shot, that is challenging and fair. And, it is consistent from week to week.

Dennis,
Thats great that you found a place that caters to bowlers, no gimmicks, cosmic bowling etc.. Most centers have to go the gimmick route to stay afloat in the off months..its a turn off,.. for me anyways. Unfortunatly most are like that around here. But it looks like the center I bowl in is trying to break away from that a liitle this summer.
Last week you mentioned the fact that bowling on the PBAX league could actually be the very reason that I got all out of whack with my timing and release. This weekend I had a lesson with my coach, and she asked how I had been bowling. I explained that I was bowling on a PBA league and how I had been struggling. She immediatly pointed out that the PBA league, and trying to adjust to the various patterns could be the root of all my problems. Good Call on your part. But I have committed to this league, and a teamate, and I m going to keep at it for now. One more try on the Chameleon pattern tonight,...I did well on it in practice Monday, hopefully I'll continue.

Well, lets just say my Sport league has been interesting. Just bowled week 5. Weeks 1 and 2 were on Cheetah which I posted about. Weeks 3 and 4 were on NCAA pattern #3. I didn't post anything on them cause there wasn't much to post. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I would have done better if I had taken my spare ball and thrown it directly at the pocket. Everything was just off the last few weeks. I was thinking about it the other day and I realized that I had been holding my ball higher. I put it back down to on top of my leg and this past Tuesday, the World was right again. We were on the Scorpion. I shot 230, 150something, 190something. I am still not making adjustments as fast as I should. I am just not catching the lane breakdowns and the line shifts like I should. We have 1 more week on the Scorpion and then I have a Pro Am next Friday night on the Scorpion. That is when I should be getting my Cell too
Hey Brandon - yep, I bowled limping and all. The other team was baffled that I was able to be stable myself at the line but I bit through the pain and did it.
Nice series Mike and Dennis.
I didn't do all that well last night. Team wise we took 1 game from the 1st place team so we were pretty happy about that.
I bowled a 154, 144, 142 for a 440 series. 34 pins under average. I just couldn't connect last night - mu night started off rushed and it just went down hill from there. Still had fun though - we had a good time and the other team was great to bowl against.

Melissa, are you bowling at Miracle? Which night? I'm there Thursdays for the Tough Shot. Was doing well on the Cheetah, but the Viper kicked my butt. After my rolloff last week, I'm probably down to 7 or 8 overall. Here's hoping the Chameleon goes better! I think it will.
