Welcome, BigNasty. I was in DFW last Sunday, flying home from Nationals. Plane was diverted due to bad weather at home. Didn't get to see much in the 3 hour layover.
Join in and have some fun.

I am a Red Wings fan, and I must say I am just a little surprised at how well they are playing. I knew they were good, but they are like a machine right now. Datsyuk and Zetterburg look unstoppable, and thier leading goal scorer Franzen has not played for two games and is out tonight too. It has been fun to say the least.
For some reason Turco has trouble with the Wings, he looked fantastic against the Sharks. Dallas could win tonight, but they have to score early, that way Detroit will have to press a little, instead of basically playing keep away from the Stars, with thier puck possesion. Should be fun...
Good thing I'm not a Ravens fan then. Of course I'm not particularly fond of the Steelers or for that matter the Cowboys. I'll just stick with everyones favorite losers, the Lions.

Yeah almost the greatest team of all time, I'm sure InfernoCal and anyone else who is brave enough to call themselves a Lions fan would trade situations with the Patriots.

I am a Lions fan (sigh).. and I would trade situations with the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, heck most high school teams....LOL.
High school teams? How about some Pop Warner teams or maybe Powder Puff teams? LOL. Last season in training camp the players did complain about doing contact drills earlier than the collective bargaining agreement allowed. As for Kitna guaranteeing 10 wins, I thought he was talking about over the course of the rest of the decade.

Ahh, But we do have the Red Wings, and the Pistons in the NBA and NHL playoffs. If the Wings dispose of Dallas tomorrow, they would play for the Stanley Cup. The Pistons are waiting to face the Celtics or the Cavaliers in the eastern conf. finals.
As for the Lions, we have a pro female football team here called the Detroit Demolition that won thier version of the Super Bowl many times in the past few years,I'm sure they would give the Lions a good game.
Yeah at least the Pistons and Wings put together contenders year after year. Its I think 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals for the Pistons. The Tigers, what a disappointment so far. Maybe, hopefully they are just trying to make things interesting.
As for the Lions versus the Demolition, its no contest, my money is on the ladies and I don't mean the Lionesses, but the Demolition. Can you tell even though I'm a fan I don't have much faith in them?

Red Wings should come out strong tonight. They play looser on the road. They seem to play a little tighter at home, trying to put on a show for the home crowd. The Wings really did not play too bad, a couple of slow line changes, and a disallowed goal (which should have counted ). If that goal was allowed, this series would be over already. Wings win tonight.

The Stars adjusted to the Wings 1st line,...kudos to them. They did a good job. Now its the Wings turn to adjust,..could be a blowout if Wings roll early. We shall see..should be fun.

The Dallas Stars gave a gallant effort. They will be a force to be reckoned with next year, and beyond. Brett Hulls got them going in the right direction.
Red Wings, Penguins should be a great series. The Penguins are young and very talented, The Wings are experienced and very talented. I think experience will prevail. Go Wings!

You would, Michican-boy.
I don't actually follow hockey at all, but being in Pittsburgh, I'm kind of shoved into getting excited about this. That said, when I have watched the games, the Pens are actually interesting to watch. Watching them play, and watching other teams play, it's like they are playing a different game. It's like being used to watching downhill skiers doing the slalom, and then watching the X Games. Perhaps not as extreme a difference, but it's something my untrained eye has noticed.

cgeorg, Hockey is a great game to watch, and when its played well its even better. I know what you mean by the Pens playing a different game than everyone else, you get the same feeling watching the Wings when they are rolling. Its like Globetrotters on ice. Or in comparison,..watching Tommy Jones, or Shawn Rash bowl,..then watching me bowl..LOL.

Now tonight I have to watch the Pistons vs. Celtics in game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Even though we have the lowley Lions here in the Detroit area, we are blessed elsewere.
Well I was thinking of Boston, but with the Pats going all the way to the SuperBowl undefeated and then lose it that kind of evens it out . Thats still not as bad as Detroit with the Lions being mediocre at best season after season and the Tigers with that line up keeping that spot in the cellar nice and warm.

The Tigers make no sense at all. All those players have a history of being good hitters with 280, 290, 300 lifetime averages, Ordonez won the batting title last year for crise sakes. Not one of them is hitting now, pitching is horrendous. Something is amiss in the clubhouse. Jim Leyland blew his top yesterday, so maybe they will get off the snide....we'll see. Its too late I'm afraid..I think their season is shot already.
thats not true all it takes is a hot month to get back in the mix. the rangers are prime example since im from dallas area im gonna use cuz they were the worse team in baseball and got really hot for like 3 weeks now they are right in the mix
Well we got started on Detroit's sports teams, when a Redskins' fan took a crack at the Cowboys', then a Lions' fan kind of took a crack at them all, and then a Pats fan chimed in but was ashame of them losing the most important game, and then the Redskins' fan took a crack at the Lions' fans saying we would take the trade off, and then another Lion's follower brought up the bright side of the Detroit sports world, the Pistons and Wings and then it got into the potential of the under performing Tigers and now we move on to da Bulls.

The funny thing is, people who live around Comisky Park (I will always call it Comisky) talk like that. My best friend is from Bridgeport and my wife could watch the fireworks from her backyard. They are better now but get a few drinks in them, the south side comes out.

They were both Comisky. The old Comisky used to be called Sox Park. It was changed in the 70s I want to say. When they built the new Comisky, they kept the name.
