I'm throwing a Brunswick Twisted Fury. I started bowling regularly in 1995. After graduating high school in 1998 I stopped for a while and just picked it back up last year. My style hasn't changed much. I know I probably have some bad habits established by now. My PAP is 4 1/4" x 1/4" up. My average currently sits at a 190. Thanks in advance for looking

There is not much to critique - It would be nice if there was more video including some camera shots from the side. From what little I could see was quite good. I did notice that your trailing leg is kicked up in the air. Most of the better bowlers including the pro's keep the nonsliding foot in contact with the approach upon release. However, Walter Ray kicks his right foot into the air and who can argue with success?

Thanks for the reply. Here is a left side shot of my approach. Don't know if you can get much out of it. I'll try to get some more videos up in the next few days. Thanks again.

I forgot to mention that having the nonsliding foot in contact with the approach is probably reoommended as it would aid in balance as opposed to ending up on one foot. Also important is not to swing the trailing leg too far to the left as it could cause your shoulders not to face 90 deg to your target line. Having the trailing leg ending up at 7 o'clock would be ideal.

Agreed on the trailing foot. In the side view, I see that the weight of the ball is in your right hand in the stance. You should have the weight in your left hand until your pushaway so that your right hand and arm can stay relaxed and free. If you start the ball a little higher, you will also be able to eliminate some of the muscle it takes to get your backswing as high as it is.

thanks much for the advice...i've been told by a few people that my approach reminds them a little of a slowed down version of tommy jones' (which actually happens to be my favorite bowler) approach, with the high backswing, the left hand balance, and the kicked out trailing foot. i've had that trailing foot habit for a long time..also my aim is actually at the dots on the foul line and not the arrows so i'm hoping i can start getting used to arrow aiming...once again thanks for the advice and i'll try to keep my progess shown on this thread in the weeks to come

Everything looks great until you let the ball go then you are cutting your swing off, your elbow bends and it looks like you are trying to hook the ball instead of just going through it at the bottom of the swing. Try extending your fingers to a point about 6" past the foul line and try to extend your followthrough so that it feels like you are trying to touch the lane at the point 6" past the foul line.
