Hey guys,
Last friday we were bowling to get into second place so that next week we can "roll off" vs. the first place team. We started out in 3rd and 2 points behind second. My first game was a 250, started with 7 strikes, then a split, 2 strikes and a 9 spare (10 pin). My next two games weren't as good and I ended the night with a 593. Still we took all 4 points and should be playing the first place team this week depending on how they did.
Kevin,
That's incredible that you just got back into bowling and already got a 600! Took me about 5 years of steady bowling in league before I did that. Keep up the good bowling and remember to have fun even if you don't get 600's every week!
bigbowlla,
Just noticed you're from KS... whereabouts? Are you bowling state in Topeka (March)?

I can't wait for tonight, I think something good is going to happen. Just seems like one of those days when my attitude is good and I really feel like I want to go bowling - usually that makes a good scoring day.

before everyone starts patting my back, lets see if I can do it friday night. Im sure sunday morning lane conditions are much easier than Friday night.
Actually, my buddy has a 190ish average on friday nights, and a 220ish average on saturday morning when he bowls with his ex-girlfriends 7-8 year old son (dont ask) in the adult/child league.

Well, As I suspected, sunday mornings are much easier to score on than Friday night league nite. I bowled a 122/102/178. OMG I was so worried about not breaking 100. I could not pick up a spare to save my life. While in Sunday i had no problem. maybe it wasnt the lane, except, My 122 was the 3rd highest score on my team in that game, and my 178 was 2nd in that game. My whole team was having problems
But 5 lanes down someone bowled a 288. his only mistake was a spare in the 10th.

Well, tonight wasn't a complete waste. Had a 199/245/169, 611 series. Don't know what happened that third game, but it kept me from my usual 650+ series. My avg, which took a big blow last week, dropped under 200 with a miserable 508 series. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a bazooka last week, but zoned in a lot better tonight. Best thing, we won all 4. My teammates came through better this week as well, one had a 636 series and the other had a 675 series. Since my wife dropped out because of her injured back, we had to recruit my teammate's wife to bowl because the rules state we must have at least one team member of the opposite sex. We bowled her vaccant tonight. I don't want the female bowler to bowl well, we need the handicap pins. My wife was too good, had a 180 avg, but bowled above that most of the time. Trying to make a run here, plus we bowl the 1st place team next week. Beating them would be nice since they beat us the last time, only because they actually suck as a team but have a very high handicap advantage over everyone. That's how they win.

Sounds like a better night than I had. Two of the players on the other team didn't show up to bowl, so instead of bowling blind they were allowed to have a sub - and it turns out that one of the subs was the highest average scratch bowler from the Tuesday night men's league. My team didn't think that was fair to replace a 160 average bowler with a 225 average bowler. Anyway, I bowled 150, 179, 145 and we lost 3 games. It was frustrating because had the other team bowled blind instead of recruiting a heavyweight to sub for them we would have won all four, we were really close every game.
Sorry to hear that Mutil. My night was decent but I am aggrevated I blew yet another 600 series. Bowled a 246 first game, 188 the second, was on a roll no problems, out of nowhere the lanes pull something I could not consistantly work with. If I shoot three boards left of my shot(intentional), hard hook brooklyn no carry, three board movement to the right of my normal target- hard hook brooklyn no carry. Go back to my normal line, mind you middle of the first to attempted adjustments.......light action soft on the head pin, all kinds of stupid splits. I decide to let it go as is and mess with ball speed and managed to spare out and salvage a 158 . Oh well next week should go better. Not a complete loss we took 4 of 5 and I hit 15 over my average so I guess my complaint is minimal.

Hey Mutil. Tell me about it. One league night last year we had another team bring in a 210 average sub. and he bowled a 300 game!
We lost 3 of 4 to the first place team Friday. Again we bowled well, they just bowled better (seems to be a common theme). Monday we split 2 of 2. First game, won by 20 pins. Second game, lost by 140-something (got killed!) Third game, won by 120-something and lost overall by ONE PIN!
