Well in about an hour it's league night once again. Midterms this past week didn't allow to me post about last week but it was a pretty good night for me but unfortunately the rest of the team fell apart. I bowled a 144, 144, and 145 for a 433 set. That was the 2nd week in a row in which I was over average every game (though that 144 could be on my average depending upon what it is when I see the league sheet tonight) and my practice is really starting to pay off with much more consistent scoring. Now I'd like the consistent scoring to be higher than 144, but we're working on that each and every week.

We bowled a top 5 team in the league and couldn't take advantage of an off night for them. At least two of their bowlers were under their averages in any given game but unfortunately so was my team. It was tough but hopefully we can rebound tonight against a team that's below us. If any of you have been following my posts you can no doubt surmise that there are very few teams below us this season wink. Hopefully we can get some points tonight as we're about as even as it can get with handicap so it ought to be a fair fight.

I'm inching closer to my pre-league goal of a 150 average and I've been painstakingly close to my first 500 series. Hopefully I can shoot that 500 tonight and make some real progress in getting to the 150 average.

Well I am pleased to report that the team had a great night and so did I. I shot a 150, 153 and 156 for a 459 series and we swept the points for the first time all year. The team was upbeat and it was really a wonderful night. Given the fact that we bowl a worse team next week and we could honestly move up the table here in a bit. I am extremely proud of my team tonight.

Congrats BSchaff! Keep it up and you'll be to that 150 average in no time.

Leagues have been going well here too. My last 3 nights I've gotten a 628, 613, and last night a 598 (miss a 600 by 2 pins grr!!). Games were a 213, 163, and 222. I just took too long to switch balls that middle game... only a few strikes. I'm feeling real confident about my game right now. Friday nights we're still in 1st place (of 10), Mondays we're around 6th (of 12) but moving up every week it seems.

Well the weekends here and league is tonight! Hoping to break that 600 mark again. We're playing the team we battled all year last year for the 1 and 2 spots (we ended in 2nd, 3 games behind). They're a bunch of great bowlers with 3 of the top 4 bowlers in our league being on their team (2 w/ 220+ averages). Should be fun. My ideal night is I shoot a 650, we win all 4 points, and the Cardinals win!

Good luck for tonight Tyveil, looks like your progress is continuing.. some pretty solid scores. Brian is also doing well... very consistent last series, Brian, well done. My last two times at bat have not been spectacular: 138, 156 and 134 (143 av) on tricky lanes.. just couldn't find the line all night and whenever I thought I had a shot... it just disappeared. The following week looked like a repeat with 133, 137 then 201! A ball change late in the second game and a change of line did the trick. The shot was fading fast at the end of the game with the ball over-reacting so I missed out on finishing the tenth frame but the score was pleasing enough after not being close to 200 for a while. My team-mates continue to struggle as much as I am so we really haven't managed to gather good points hauls and we seem anchored in 6th (of 9) place for the moment. Well.. pratice tomorrow morning (Sunday here) and then wait a couple of days for another go at getting it right.
Good bowling to all.
Allan

Well it's league time again tonight although one of my bowlers' balls cracked darn near in half during practice this week so she'll be relegated to a house ball this evening. She throws a backup ball so it shouldn't matter too much.

We are bowling a team below us so hopefully we can get top points again tonight. I'm running out of chances for that still elusive 500 set so hopefully tonight I can get it. It would also put me well on my way to that goal of a 150 average which I'm slowly but surely working my way up to. I haven't had a great week of practice but it seems that when I practice poorly I seem to do better during league. Hopefully I'll have a good report later tonight.

Seems like a bit of a rough week for ya there Allan but believe me I know how that goes. Our season started off very poorly but we've rebounded a little bit lately and it feels good to string some points together finally. Tyveil looks like you were on your game this past week and hey the Cards managed to win it all for ya there too. Hopefully your battle of top teams went squarely in your favor.

We split with the top team (2 and 2). Everyone had a bad night, including their team. We started off losing the first two until the 3rd game I finally found a line and pulled out a 220 saving a 520 series and salvaging the last game and total pins by about 10. Nobody was beating their average so it feels nice to break through with a good game like that even if overall I didn't quite reach my goals.

My other league is tonight too, hopefully we both have good nights BSchaff.

I've had quite a great week of bowling. After bowling my first 600 last week I went on wednesday with a different mentality. I had a 519 series with a 158-164-197. Average 173 which is above my 159 average on this league. Also this is the league I've been having problems with breakdown of the lanes.

On Friday I had my highest game ever on league, a 236 and then I followed with a dissapointing 153 and a 176, for a total of 565. My average on this league is up to 169 now.

On sunday I had to sub for somebody else that call me and I almost had a second 600. I had a 198-231-163 for a total of 592. I really like the conditions on sunday, it is heavy oil and my total shock and awe loves it. In two weeks I have a 201 average on this league... I doubt it will stay that high, but it feels good.

Hi all, looks like the bowling game continues to puzzle us all but some of you are getting on top every now and then. Last night was another toughie at the lanes. They only lasted a few frames before the place dried up and became very difficult. A ball change in the second game saved me from a really horrible score but I couldn't hit my spares to save myself! 149,133 and 211 for the night.. well above average overall but it could have been a lot better. Spare shootin' practice for me this week!!
Good luck to you all for the coming rounds of your leagues.
Cheers,
Allan

Hey Allen sounds like what happened to us on Monday. Lanes were bone dry halfway through the 1st game. We had more splits, high-hits, and brooklyns than I think I've ever seen. Luckily I did pretty good on my spares and ended with a 560 series (split another series 2-2). I really need to get in some time and work on my spare system too. I'm hitting my spare mark consistently but the ball isn't always where I expect it to be at the end of the lane.
