Well in about 3 hours I'll be embarking on the latest installment of the odyssey that is my Monday night league. Can't quite remember who we're playing but hopefully we can build on the momentum of last week.

Sounds like everyone else did pretty well in their leagues and very nice clutch shooting Tyveil. I had a similar moment during last week though I didn't realize it at the time. Turns out if I hadn't have picked up a 10 pin during our 2nd match we would not have won given how the other anchor bowled. Feels great to rise above the pressure. Keep up the great bowling guys.

Hi Folks. As I mentioned in a previous post about next week being different... well it sure was for us! I couldn't make head nor tail out of the lanes last night.. two shots on the same path, speed and rotation would net two completely different results... some would hook a bit, some a lot and some not at all. After game one I just stuck to one line (down the 10 board) and waited to see what was left! Horrible. Nobody else did anything much better either... certainly no-one, out of the six of us on our pair, got within 15 pins of their average. I managed 130,145 and 133 for a 136 night. I felt quite lucky to get that high! The entire league average for the night was 156... it is normally 176! Oh well... next week will be different, I can put money on that one!
Cheers to all
Allan

Wow Allan. That IS a great difference. But the straight bowlers didn't complain, i suppose. The lane conditions are the last thing on their mind :P

For once, i played a league match with 3 games, just like you guys. And just like that, i broke my high series. I began with a perfectly good 188, followed up with a great 211, and finished with a tremendous 243! Now that last game could've easily been 300, if it wasn't for two unlucky splits in the middle of the game. Apart from those, i made 10 strikes (!) that game. So, 642, 214 average.

Too bad we wont stick with it though. It was just a fun tryout. No increase for my average either frown

Fantastic series Frostbreath, congratulations. I have yet to crack a 600 series... been close but not close enough! Not to worry about your average.. at least you know what you can bowl in a three game series.. very impressive. Good luck for your next league match and good bowling.
Cheers,
Allan

Ok.. I was right.. the lanes were different again... almost what you would call normal (for our place).. a little oil and dryish backends.. the ball hooked tonight, but mostly too much and if you strayed towards the middle of the lane it was 7 pin city! Nevertheless, it was something to bowl on, so we bowled! Not well, unfortunately and we only got 2 of 11 points. Personally, I managed 160, 143 and 162 for a 155 average for the night. A little above my average but it was more good luck than good bowling. My head just wasn't in it tonight and a few lane breakdowns didn't really help at all. I was quite pleased to pack up my gear and head for home at the end of the match, against a team that we always enjoy and usually bowl well against. Oh well... I'll try to get some practice in on Sunday and get my brain back on the business of bowling for next week. Hope everyone is doing well.
Catch you all when you file your week's exploits.
Cheers,
Allan

Well last night was another big accomplishment for us and believe it or not no jerks on the other team... in fact they were quite pleasant and we made some new friends.

I very nearly accomplished my set goal of a 500 series. I bowled a 151, 161 and 169 for my new high series of 481. I couldn't believe it I was absolutely rolling in my last game and I somehow managed to leave my 9th and 10th open with 5 pins and 9, respectively. After realizing once the match ended how close I was to my 500 I decided to add it up and quite a bit of frustration set in knowing that if I hadn't have taken quite as big a poo during my last 2 frames I may well have had that elusive 500. Still though my new high series is a pretty good consolation.

But enough about me the team was much improved and continues to get better. We had to use a substitue bowler because a guy on the team got a new job that doesn't allow him to particpate in league anymore sadly. We weren't sure what the sub's handicap comes out to but if it's around 70 pins (which we think it is, but there are no math majors on the squad) we may actually have swept the points. We won the last game so badly that we are almost assured of total pins in addition to that last game so we're looking at a minimum of 3 points. The other teammates were starting to get frustrated and feeling like their practice wasn't paying off but nights like last night re-affirmed their faith and we certainly needed it.

We are getting better and hopefully on our way up the table. The mentality on our team is changing as it seems they are now coming to the alley expecting to win which sadly hasn't been the case since the first couple weeks when we got it handed to us pretty good. Hopefully we can keep this going.

Brian

Well done Brian, another step along the way to your goal and a nice consistent series too. Good to see that the opposition were a bit more "normal".. makes the evening go well and often ,I find, bowl well to boot. Keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Allan

Last friday was probably my worst night of bowling this season. It seems that for some freak of nature I totally forgot about some of the basics I know I have in my muscle memory.

I ended up with a 149, a 115 (my lowest of the season) and a 156. All of them under my average of 168, which by the way came down to 163. I also seem to be having a lot of problems with carrydown and getting an over/under reaction.

On wednesday it was a different story. I averaged a 171 with my three games being 185-142-188. Conditions are much different from my friday league. A lot less oil.

Lefont, good job on Wednesday. I bowl in 2 leagues at the same house and the lanes used to be oiled completely different, until I brought it up with the Pro Shop guy. He wasn't aware the people doing the oiling weren't doing their job right on the less serious league. So you may want to check with the owner or Pro Shop guy (if both leagues are in the same house) and see if they are aware of the differing conditions and if it is intentional. I guess at our lanes they weren't using some type of cleaner in the machine that would help strip the oil so they were just flooded all the way across and the length of the lanes.

As far as my leagues, things are going really well for the most part. Friday nights we are pulling away from the pack in 1st except for the 2nd place team which we finished 1/2 with last year (they got 1st).. I think overall we have about a 19-5 record, maybe 18-6. On Mondays we're right in the middle of the pack with an 18-18 overall. Good news is we took 3 of 4 last week and I bowled my first 600 in a long time (628 series with a 248 game). My average is pretty low in both leagues because I changed so many things over the summer, but it's coming back up (162 Monday, 170 Friday average, last year 180).

Good luck on your continuing efforts, guys. It's looking really good smile

Had a bit of a break, but now we're up and running again. We had a mathc last week which we won quite comfortably. I didn't do that well except for a 233-game. Luckily the rest of my team did awesome.

Frisk vs Brio

Today, however, the quality was a lot worse. Although i did very good (793 on 4), there were only two other who had an average above 170. The total team average was 171, still. It was a real bad beat though, these guys were the worst team in our league. This sucks frown

Frisk - Taggen

It's break time again, and the next match is at november 11th. Hopefully we'll get things working by then.

/Emil
