Well - I need to work on my 2nd ball desperately so I am committing to bowl at least one game during my practices for low score.
I had a real fun time today, with two other guys, bowling low score next to a bunch of Red Hatted ladies. One of my friends kept trying to explain to them that he was "trying to do that". They were having a good laugh at poor bowling.

I'll set the first score at 93.

If anyone wants to join in going forward it might be fun.

I learned the rules here:

1) No pins down on first ball (gutter or miss) - change frame to strike when completed.
2) No pins down on second ball (gutter or miss) - change frame to spare.
3) One pin down on first ball, one pin down on second ball, change frame to zero.

The rules for low game as I used them are as follows:
1) Shoot at the 7 or 10 first ball and on second shoot for the opposite.
2) Every pin you knockdown counts to your score (22 being the lowest)
3) If you gutter or fail to knock down the corner pin you are aiming at you add 10 pins to the score at the end of the game.

With this method I shot a 53. Only failed to hit the 10pin once because, I threw it in the gutter.

I usually turn off scoring but i have done this method without scoring to work on 10 pin and 7 pin coversions.

I have seen people at alley do pot games on spares. Like who can pick off the just the 10 without knocking down anyother pin. I guess who ever can do it the most in row won the pot.

Either way a good method in practicing your spares

This is a fun game!! We're actually thinking about trying a low score tournament sometime soon, maybe sometime this summer. I dont remember what I shot the day we were goofing around playing this, but we sure had a great time playing!!

I've found this really challenging ....

Try to get every number 1-10 showing on the scoreboard...

So say you shoot an 8 you would want to only knock down 1. Then you shoot a 7 you would want to knock down 2. Shoot for 5 then try to knock down 3 or 4 ... it could be any combination really, just as long as you get every number showing.

8 1 - 5 4 - 9 0 - 3 6 - 7 2 - X -

I was thinking about a low score award this morning at the breakfast table while reading the latest issue of "US Bowler". There was a little article contemplating if an award should be given for bowling a 37 in recognition of Democratic hopeful Barrack Obama's feat at the Pleasant Valley Recreation Center in Altoona, Pa. Of course if he played by your rules he'd have a much higher score due to the fact that he couldn't keep the ball out of the gutter.

Considering that a perfect low score would be 20, maybe if Obama becomes our next president, the USBC could award an Obama patch for rolling a 37 or lower in practice. The deskman would be your witness - I'm not sure if your game is recorded behind the desk to prevent bowlers from bowling extra frames and not paying.
