I just purchased 2 new balls bo it will be a little difficult convincing the wife that I need more now. laugh

I like the way my tropical rolls on dry lanes. It rolls early and has decent roll into the pocket, with almost no flare. It is useless on anything besides dry lanes though. Its an absolute 10 pin leaving machine unless its dry.

On carrydown the Red Zone is a beast, and my Proactive Groove is quite versatile, I can pretty much use it on anything short of the shark pattern.

I am hoping that I can move my feet right at least a little bit with the new release. I am going to hit the lanes this weekend and see how things go, and at least get used to it some before PBAX league on Monday.

This is the problem with the lower level equipment. It's not a bad idea to have something like a tropical or a power groove for when the lanes are scorched, but the lack of a modern weight block in them reduces their carry ability. Your Red Zone is really the only ball you have that has a real weight block in it. You can get equipment that fits under the red zone and above the tropical for pretty cheap. On house shots, I almost always use low end balls because everything else hooks to much. For sport patterns though, the more agressive equipment pays off because of the volume of oil across the lane.

EDIT: And by low end, I mean low end that still has a weight block. My favorite ball to date is probably the Hammer Purple Vibe. I think they're re-issuing it in green.

To add to what Lefty said, the benefit of a stronger weight block is the pins will fly lower and into the fatter part of the pins instead of higher around the neck of the pins.
