Yes, I'm not really a rev dominant thumbless bowler. Right now in my league I have a 199 average. I prefer consistency over power. I have been practicing A LOT and I've been able to become consistent with my strike shot and my spares. The 10 pin messes with me occasionally but I usual make it 8/10 times. I'm not really a power player by any means. I don't throw the big hook at all. I throw the route that a average stroker would throw. I'm not out to hook the lane. I'm just out to put up good scores. As for the equipment I use....I usually use the rampage just as my strike ball and throw straighter at everything else with my spare ball. I use to play a large hook at spares but since I switched my spare game has gotten way better. So yea...as of right now I'm sticking with bowling thumbless but I may go to using the thumb in the future. I will sometime...just don't know when.

Me too, with a similar line more often than not. I wouldn't be able to throw that line with a Rampage, though. smile

Anyway, good luck with that switch if you try it. In the meantime, the thumbless PBA pro's name is Mike Miller, and there was one short clip of him on YouTube the last time I checked.

Just out of curiosity, why bowl thumbless if not for extra revs?

I'll def. check mike miller out. Answering cgeorg's question....I bowl thumbless because i'm comfortable with the style and I've been successful with it. 300 game and a 776 series. I'm happy with the way I bowl at the moment. I'm not the thumbless bowler that just rips it. I just try to put up good scores, which I usually do.

Cgeorg, some start throwing thumbless to just be able to hook the ball. They can't figure out how to do it with their thumb in the ball. Thats how I started hooking the ball. I didn't rip it, normally playing 15 out to 8. I then started using my thumb to throw the same ball at the 10 pin and then eventually worked that into throwing a hook with my thumb. I hook it as much now as I did then.

Yes, that is the truth...I started thumbless and it stuck. I'm slowly but surely learning how to use the thumb. I'm just not ready to take it into league yet. I'm putting my practice card to great use.

I took using the thumb into league. That was a bit of a mistake. I had a 380something set one week, only beating one person in the league, a very low average female. I was averaging 170 at the time, dropped 5 pins in 5 weeks. I started to figure it out, and with nine weeks left in the season brought my average back up to a 171, while throwing two 653 series's, my highest to that point.

Yea, I'm just not ready to take it into league yet. I'm putting up good numbers as it is. I'm thinking when I start having problems with my wrist I'll begin to make the change. Thanks everyone!
