Okay, I know there are a few Cell owners out there. From what I have heard/read everyone seems to like them so far. I have wanted one since they came out,.. even before,.. and I am considering picking one up.
What I was wondering..if any of you noticed the ball starting to lose some of its punch since you first got it. I guess its inevitable.. with the newer duller balls nowadays, they soak up oil quickly..like my Black Widow Bite, which has really tailed off since I got it. That ball is half the ball it used to be, and I am concerned the same will happen with the Cell. I would hate to get one and have it be half dead by the time the new season starts, but I am sure it would be usefull on my PBA league this summer.
All balls die I guess, some just way to soon.

Any remarks will be appreciated.

The thing you have to ask yourself, are the lanes really that oily?
If not the ball may be burning up. If you are truly throwing the ball on heavy oil, then you will need to replace any heavy oil ball more quickly than other balls because they will soak up that much more oil. So whether it is a heavy oil pattern you are bowling on, or a pattern that doesn't have enough oil on it and the ball is losing too much energy that will explain why the ball seems to die.

Have you tried having the surface sanded, then having the oil extracted from your bite, then taking the surface up to 2000 and shining it up and see if the reaction returns, if so you aren't throwing it on enough oil for the out of box surface and should keep it shined up and clean. If it skids all the way down the lane, then take it back to 500 grit surface and leave it dull and see if that doesn't help, if not the ball is dead, give it to the youth league and buy a new one and that's how long you are going to have a ball last with heavy oil.

CoachJim,
I have a spinner, and I have tried adjusting the surface between 1000 to 4000 Abralon. I clean the ball after every use with a good ball cleaner, and between shots with a micro fiber towel. I have also extracted the oil a couple of times since I purchased the ball. If anything I may be guilty of over maintenance...LOL.

You mentioned a couple of things I did'nt try yet...Shining it up, or dulling it to 500 Abralon. I bowl in a tourney tonight..I'm going to shine it up and see what happens.
Its just to bad that these balls don't last more than a year...if that.
Thanks for the advice, I'll give em a try.

I don't know if you migrate over to the Hammer forums any, but it seems like I hear alot of comments about the bite having a short life span.

Yeh madaba,
I've seen them. I am going to try mine again tonight. I was going to shine it up, but decided to take it to 500 Abralon dull instead. I already have a pearl particle in my Mystic, the dulled down Bite should be a "snow tire". We shall see....

I don't have mine...yet. But I'll let you know. However, from what I've heard and read about them, they are pretty good balls as long as there is oil on the lanes. There may be some structural issues with them though. There have been a couple of people who have gotten Cells and the ball broke on them. There was this one guy threw the ball for the first time and it came back with crack all the way around the center. I don't know why. It could've been anything from, they just got the anomaly to the drilling doing something to the ball to bowler abuse. If you want to take your chances go ahead.

I haven't noticed much of a change in my Cell. I can't tell you how many games I've used it, but still goes strong. I've had it since mid January just to give you an idea of the time it's been a part of my arsenal. It definitely needs some oil, and I've also taken it down to 800 grit.
