Yesterday it was my weak games. 121-117-135 Game 1: I threw bad that I got 2 splits, 4 opens and 2 strikes. Game 2: I threw in gutter at 1st frame, double gutters in 2nd frame, 5 opens, and only 1 strike. It was my lame game that I can’t focus on the approach and release. Game 3: I got 3 spares, 1 gutter, 1 split and 4 strikes. I got turkey in 7, 8, and 9th frame. I attempt for hambone in 10th but I threw bad to hit only 2 pins and leave open. I can’t stay focused in 10th frame to made 400s series. Total: 375 it was my lowest series since 6th January and I picked the wrong ball instead of last week ball. Actually, my thumb with an Ebonite tape on it and it got stuck. I will bring my ball to redrill the thumb hole to make bigger. My Hammer ball is fine.

Tonight, I was happy to have a better night than the last few weeks. The team as a whole though, is still in a slump. We're each struggling with our individual games, so bringing it together as a team is difficult. We have moments of greatness, but individually, not as a unit. Too many absent players for long stretches, sometimes bowling with only 2 members.
Individually, tonight I didn't do as well as I should have, only managing a 637 series: 187/226/224, but it's far better than the mid to upper 500's I've had the last 2 weeks.

Well another odd night, fairly consistent, but I couldn't seem to carry all that great. First game was horrible, I couldn't find a line at all. Had to keep a clean 10th just to get a 155. Second game I made a huge adjustment on the approach, and it was going a little better though I still couldn't carry. Shot a clean 188. Third game made another ball change, and wish I'd switched to the Saturn a lot sooner, until the splits came... Started off the game 9/XXX then a nasty 4-6-7 split. Then another split. Even had a fricken split in the 10th, for a 177. 520 series, and we won 6 out of 8 points against the first place team, so that was a bonus! As we've all started bowling pretty decent with added consistency. We've won 14 out of 16 points in the last two weeks. Since we've only got 5 weeks left it's time to make a push!

Man, if this slump I'm in lasts any longer I might have to sale my equipment and take something else up. I start with a 139. It could have been a few pins better but I just didn't care in my tenth frame when I left a 6 pin and just missed right. My good shots just wouldn't carry and trying to make some sort of adjustment lead to bad shots. Another one strike game with too many opens, but most of them being splits. The second game was better, a 188 but still not my average in this league. I had two more splits and two left side opens, the 2-5 and 2-4-5 that I never got the ball across the lane enough to get the 2 pin. I did have six strikes that game though. The last game was a disappointing 160 with several more splits, hardly any carry, but I didn't have that many great shots as frustration started to set in. I finished with another under 500 series. I had 7 or more splits on the night, missed I think only two single pin spares but 5 or more multi-pin spares. I need to try to go and get some practice in and get things figured out. Somethings just not right, I think its partly something in my release and partly my timing leading to my release. Alright, this ends tonight for both of us since we seem to shoot the same lately...I am going to pull the both of us out of this mess tonight...and you will follow....or we will both continue to do poorly...but I kind of like the former option better than the latter..... I'll post word tomorrow... And sorry it's still going awry for you Cal....

Well, deja vu struck this past Friday. In my first game, I bowled a nice 200. I started having some problems on the left lane, and figured that the left lane had more carrydown than the right. So, the Power Groove on the left, since it hooks earlier, and the Vapor Zone on the right. This worked well. Second game is going pretty good...a couple of misses on corner pin spares. I come up in the tenth, with an opportunity to pick up 150 pins and shut out the match. I'm working on two strikes, I just need to strike out. I roll right where I've been, the ball hooks, hits the 1-3 pocket high flush, and what happens? STONE 8!!!! WITH A RINGING 10!!!! I collapsed in a fit right there on the approach. Two consecutive weeks the 8 pin has robbed me of a win. I finish with a 179. Final game, the lanes just burnt up, and I rolled a 157, to finish with a 536 series, and a 178 average. I am still peeved over that 8-10 split in the tenth on the second game.

Joey, I plan on breaking out of these poor performances I've been having three nights a week. I start to get it together for a game just to not do well the others. I'll be shoeing up in just over an hour to give it another try. I have a few things I plan on trying to maybe score better.

Well it was the same old same old. I had games of 160s, 140s and 150s for a 464 series. I just left too much wood on the lanes. If I converted all the single pin spares the series would probably be more like 550 or better. I cleaned up multiple pins a lot better than singles. I just can't get the strike ball to move the way I used to. When I did it wasn't good placement. My best four shots in a row were probably in the last two frames of the the night when I took my middle finger out of the ball. I don't know if its the tape on the finger not letting me get a good feel or what, but I hit my mark and the ball moved. I had three strikes and then I think left a 10 pin on the last shot. I had a few good shots before but nothing like those four. It looks like I'm going to be off work for most of the week so maybe I'll go and get some practice in. I have a gift card for AMF I need to use.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid leaving the 8 pin? I usually play around 10th board, straight up the side. The ball I use is a 14# Vapor Zone, drilled for length. Works great on broken down house shots. This Friday is position night, and there's a three-way tie for the lead. If I can pull through and get these games in the clutch, we could be bowling for the whole season in sweepstakes.
